The ****ing Rangers playing Martin Biron sucked. God, I hate them.
The Leafs got a point, but a terrible one at that. They had a 4-1 lead halfway through the 3rd period.
Capitals got a point, could've been worse.
Senators lost a heartbreaker in regulation. Andy allowed a goal from about 90 ft. and they lost 4-3. We're 5 points behind them..........with 5 games in hand.
Currently the 9th seed, though. Let's win tomorrow.
Tonight proved that the Panthers can't depend on the other teams to do the dirty work for them. It's all up to how badly they want to make it to the postseason.
Scoreboard watching at this point just may drive a Panther fan nuts. You might want to abstain for a little while. It's going to remain fairly tense for the next 34 games. Perhaps you feel this team can't do it on their own steam?

After 10 yrs of snoozing, for me, the tension feels good.
He said we're only 8 points ahead of the New York islanders.
This blows. We really have to take the next two division games dammit.
Yes, I know what he said.
What he said was random and irrelevant.
If you're worried about the NY Islanders, you might as well start looking forward to the draft. 8 points, especially at this point of the year and with all the 3-point games, is a rather significant amount.

but just think, if we lose 4 in a row and the Isles win 4 we're screwed.

Lol, yeah that's not gonna happen. Were only 12 pts. behind the Rangers..... At this point of the season 8 pts might as well be 18 pts. The Isles have no chance of catching us, just like we have no chance of finishing at the top of the east. Especially because, you know, its the islanders.

I agree, tonight wasn't the greatest but still not horrible. Ottawa lost. That's like 5 in a row for them. The Devils got extremely lucky, they tied it in the 3rd with a couple minutes left on a total fluke bounce off the boards, then of course win it in the SO. We still have more ROW than they do. They're not playing that good right now, we've been better over the last 5 or so games.
The Leafs totally fell apart in the 3rd and get to face Malkin again tomorrow night. Gustavsson was bad in this one, I'll say it again I don't like their chances of the playoffs with their current goaltending. It's not up to snuff with most of the rest of the league. Our competition isn't playing that well. We just have to go .500 the rest of the way and I think we get in.
Can't rely on other teams helping us, we need to get back to where we were in the beginning of the season. It's a shame Kuli is out but I believe we'll come out strong against the Caps, big game tomorrow and a win would be huge for us.
Guys, the sky is not falling yet, we need to just relax a little bit. Everything is going to sort itself out. There will be nights like last night, where we got little help, and there will be other nights where we get lots of help.
The positives to look at are:
- Ottawa is five points ahead of us, but they are on a nice losing streak, AND have played FIVE more games than us. Take the two games we have against them, and split those five games we have in hand, and we pass them.
- Winnipeg is three points behind us, but again, they have played three more games than us, so if we take advantage of those head to heads left, and the games in hand we have, we should stretch the lead.
- Toronto is ahead of us, but once again, they have played two more games than us.
- Our games against the Caps pretty much will be the main reason why we, or the Caps for that matter, win the division. A regulation win tonight gives us the division lead again, with a game in hand, so its imperative that if we win against them, we do so in regulation.
So what does all of this mean...simple, we control our own destiny. No matter what happens on nights the Panthers do not play, we have put ourselves in an opportunity to make the playoffs. Win these games we have in hand, and we are in a great position IMO.
It doesnt really matter what other teams do, all we can do is get 6 points every 5 games. At that rate, we should be fine.
I dont know if anyone watched any of yesterdays games, but the intensity and speed was SIGNIFICANTLY higher than pre all-star game. The Panthers NEED to come out flying tomorrow and look like a playoff team. If we cant keep up in the first few games post all-star game, then we may have a problem.
As far as "Why cant we ever get help in the Standings", it's because we have SUCKED for a decade. If we WIN, it won't friggin matter.

Yeah, if we do the 6 in 5 thing for the next 34 games, we're guaranteed a playoff spot, imo.
The goal before the year in that thread was (I believe) 94 points. Looking at the competition, you could make a good case for the 8th seed in the East having less than 94 points this year.
I don't think MR's prediction of .500 getting us in is quite true (that would be 89 points), but I think we basically just have to be 2 or 3 games over .500 the rest of the way for a playoff spot.
The 9th seed won't have 90+ points this year; I just don't see that happening.

Yeah, not exactly .500, slightly better than. 500. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see the 8th team with 89 pts.
21-13 would fetch us 96 with the easiest schedule remaining in the nhl. I have high standards for this team i hope the players, the coach, and most importantly the GM feel the same.
