Thank you Boston! And so far, so good for the Habs against the Jets.

This was amazing. The losses today added up to as important as a panthers win according to the playoff chances site.

Thx

Why should we be rooting for those last 3 teams (specifically Toronto)?
I'll be rooting for Winnipeg against the Leafs. And I'm rooting against Pittsburgh and Philly. Might be a longshot, but it's not impossible to catch them if we get hot. I'm not worried about the 13th and 14th seeds of the conference catching us. If they catch us, it means we played terribly and didn't make the playoffs, anyway.

"Scoreboard Thread(Better Known as Why Cant we ever Get Help in the Standings Thread)"

Washington, Toronto or Winnipeg losing games is not going to keep us in the top eight. Especially with 31 games left.

We don't need help, we need to win games

That's it.

Emotionally, I understand what your saying.

Mathamatically, these opposing losses will make the threshold amount lower, ie 93 vs 96.

Either way its all good.

This. Really, those last three games (Leafs, Pens, Flyers) only affect our playoff chances by 0.1-0.2 percent. So it's negligible. Still, as it is now, we're jumping between 3rd and 8-9th. I don't want the divisional title to be our only means of getting to the playoffs. Anyways, this is where the reasoning comes from: http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL/E...t/Florida.html

I'm happy, this late in the season, we still have a 75% chance of making the playoffs. Carolina has a 1%, heck even Tampa is only 8%! I'll take those odds, all week long, and twice on Sunday! I feel terrible for my fellow Panther fans who's emotions hinge on every game, every point, every day. What a bumpy ride! One game at a time, one game at a time.

I feel we are getting more breaks this year than in past recent years. Maybe there is a stat to reflect that, maybe not. It does not seem like the Panthers have to win every night just to stay above water. It seems like teams around us in the standings are losing to teams in other divisions/conference and also lower "inferior" clubs in the standings.

It's called playing with a lead. As in not having to jump several teams to make up the 4-6 points between us and 8th. There's a little room for error (I wish we had more of a margin though)

This is true. We have not been in this spot this late into the season since late 90's/early 2000's?? So maybe my mind is playing tricks on me that way, but I feel like the out of town scores on off nights especially have been kind to the Panthers with a lot of days off in the past couple weeks.

I get that... just speculating in a 10 team race which 2 would fold.

I understand .. Just my trepidation of whether we're one of the 8 or the 2.

the panthers really have put themselves in a great spot. We have 31 games left. Even if we went 16-15 in that stretch we have 91 points. Im not sure if that will be enough but i also expect to go better than 16-15.

Really put ourselves in a great position.

91 rarely (if ever does it. 94 seems to be the magic number. 18-13 is what im looking for.

And if we cant do that we deserve to be golfing.
