Two wins in a row? Are you freaking kidding me?

Good:
-Miller was outstanding late.
-Ennis played like a superstar.
-Leino getting a goal. Boyes with some solid work on the game-winner.
-Ehrhoff-Myers has some kinks to work out but played very well. This could be an elite top pairing.
-Roy and Staff with good games.
-Back to back wins.
-Brian Duff.

Bad:
-Vanek injury again.
-Stafford not finishing.
-Habs.

Ugly:

Good win.

Still can't score for ****. Goose with a 3 point night, Ehrhoff with 2. No major issues.

Good team win boys. We can still draft Gaunce even if we drop down to 8th overallish.

U: Two more points away from the kind of franchise player who you can't get in a trade, and seldom makes it to market. But on the bright side, now with more chance of more of the same!

I thought Myers was a force tonight.
Price is really good.
Miller played great as well.

GOOD

Lindy deciding to roll 3 lines in the third. About ****ing time. Ellis had 39 seconds TOI and McCormick a big fat 0 TOI in the third.

It's Montreal and Carey Price. These games are never high scoring.

But damn, Miller, Myers, Ehrhoff, Gerbe-Ennis, Leino-Roy-Pominville...hell even Weber had a great game. Goose with the goal and that huge backcheck/shot block at the end of the 2nd. Pommer gets a reprieve for not finishing today given he's been the offensive engine on the team lately. Stafford...he's got to convert some time, right? Right?

Stat of the game: Buffalo attempted 79 shots (40 SOG, 21 blocked, 18 missed). Montreal attempted 52 (28 SOG, 16 blocked, 8 missed).

I feel the same way. No doubt it's too little too late, but it feels good to win again. It's also nice to watch entertaining hockey again. Its been, what? 45 games since we've seen them compete like that...

Ever since that benching Myers has been the #1 D we need. He picked up where he left off after the injury, and today...wow. Unbelievable job from him.

Miller has been sensational for the past couple of games, Myers was good, though I'd like to see Myers just take out Cole on that one on one, still needs to work on his defense a little bit. Ennis looked great, he will probably regress, but tonight he was flying, engaged everywhere even playing physically.

Roy, Stafford, look at ****ing Ennis, guy is one of the smallest players in the league and plays with more heart than both of you combined.

Myers is turning into a really physical player.
Ennis was awesome. Won 57% of his draws, a carubba collision and was flying around all night.

This is how I'm going to explain the winning streak: the team got confused by the week off and when Pommers lost in the All-Star game, and thought they were okay to win again without being a real streak.

You kind of look silly complaining about Roy and Stafford tonight. Both looked pretty good.

C'mon... Mentioning things like "well there goes top 5 pick" etc.... is simply crazy talk. Deep down you know, YOU. KNOW. This team will win about 35-45% of their remaining games. Even with a healthy or almost healthy roster. Game in game out, overall this team has major issues. This is just a well rested bump in energy level and effort. Nothing more.

G-
Miller kept them in it
All the returning injured looked good

B-
Vanek injured

U-
Gomez and his salary

the good
- Leino beast mode
- Miller being good
- Ennis return provided some jump
- Ehrhoff/Myers was excellent
- Stafford with a very solid game
- Boyes was noticeable throughout

the bad
- posts and not burying chances
- winning our way out of the bottom 5

the ugly
- vanek injured

I would hope after a week off those two bums would actually do something for this team, alas I was mistaken. Yes, I know Ennis had a much longer break than those guys, and like I said he is probably going to regress, but this guy actually battles for the team while Drew and Roy just float around without any effort at all.

IMO Roy and Stafford were not good at all. I'm beginning to not even notice Stafford, but I can't ignore that ****ing ugly #9 on the ice in a Sabres jersey. Thankfully he is becoming more and more invisible as well.

Is it just me or does a sarcastic cheer go up at the bell centre every time Gomez touches the puck

That's basically what I was thinking: They've been off for a week and apparently forgot that they haven't lost one since the win last week.

Wait until they find out they just won two-in-a-row. They're gonna be so disappointed.

and by the way....

UGLY:
Almost ALL the Eastern teams playing tonight got 1 or 2 points, leaving the Sabres still 10 points out of 8th.

I like Vanek. I admire what he does, I appreciate that he takes his slumps/shortcomings, and losing personally. I just think it's time he's someone else's headache. Every night it's something with him.

You're entitled to your opinion. For tonight, anyways, it happens to be wrong. Stafford was invisible? What game were you watching? Roy could've had a multi-point game if Pommer finished either of his big chances (hit the post, and Price saved his shot with a rolling puck). He also was 62% at the dot, including some big defensive zone wins in the 3rd. Stop reading the scoring summary and start watching the games.

Unfortunately, GBUs have turned into another thread in which people can grind their season axes, rather than actually commenting about the game for which the thread is meant.
