NEWS & NOTES

QUOTES TO NOTE

They definitely came hard and kept pushing. It starts with me. I make a terrible play with a turnover on the blue line on the tying goal.
- Ryan Callahan

It’s probably frustrating as ever. I feel like we had a good game and we were able to limit their chances down the stretch. They got a bounce.
- Martin Biron

All in all, I thought everybody contributed. I thought we played a pretty good game. We’re a few seconds away and a bad bounce away from winning another hockey game.
- John Tortorella

I'm happy that we have a game so soon after the last one. The sooner I can get the Devs game out of my mind the better.

The Rangers should be concerned about their clear inability to dominate teams well below them in the standings.

Teams like Vancouver, Boston, Detroit, etc. blow teams the **** out on a regular basis. The Rangers did it a few times last season, but not this year. They need to come out and end this game in the first period. It's not necessarily a knock on the Sabres; it's a reminder to the Rangers that if they want to stay the best in the East, they should actually play like the best in the East from time to time...

We rematch the Devils on Tuesday, so at least we won't have to wait too long.

Unfortuantely we play up to AND down to other teams levels. It's frustrating.

How are we still letting our power play be one of the worst in the league? It's been diabolical the entire season and NOTHING is improving. I cringe everytime we get one and I'm pulling my hair out watching us fail to enter the zone and set it up time and time again. Who is in charge of it and don't we have anyone in out organization that can get it going.

This needs fixing well before the play offs and with players like Richards, Stepan, Gaborik, MDZ/Stralman, Cally and Dubinsky there really is no reason it shouldn't be able to work. Ok, we are missing the bomb of a shot on D but we're certainly not the only team in the league missing that.

Get. it. fixed.

Oh and I almost forgot. Memo to Richards: Turn up tonight or you'll fall over on the fourth line with Anisimov soon instead.

I am getting really sick of seeing other teams constantly have players with much higher point totals than our "superstars". Pominville has 47 points. Gaborik, 41. Just crazy to me.

Their #10 scorer has 12 points. ours has 17. They have 2 players with +30 pts. We have twice that.

we have depth. Other teams don't. and that's why we are a top team.

Exactly. We had the same situation in the year right after the lockout. You'd much rather have 8 20+ goal scorers than one with 40 and the 2nd most having 22, etc.

Vanek is definitely out tonight, and another unnamed forward is ill. That means that Luke Adam is in the lineup, and as of 5 minutes ago, we learned Zack Kassian was recalled to play.

So I'd guess lines something to the effect of:

Leino - Roy - Pominville
Gerbe - Ennis - Stafford
Adam - Boyes - Kaleta
McCormick - Goose - Ellis

With Kassian sliding easily into whomever is ill's spot in the lineup.
