Classic 2 -1 - 2 forecheck on Sabres by the Rags. F1 in deep and force, F 2 pick up puck or force receiving D and F3 reads the play in the slot and takes away 1st outlet.

Gotta hand it to Torts or his assts.

Ellis had more time to get closer there.

indeed they have the forward footspeed to really work their forecheck too...our guys are gonna have a tough time in the third matching that on tired legs

5 on 3 and Boyes tries to force a cross-ice pass, end of 5 on 3.

Kassian has not put a pass on the tape as a Sabre.

Ellen needs a haircut.

Rags play a collapsing 2 -1 - 2 in their own zone too... (I haven't watched any Ranger games this season.)

Cheez, I like the tactics Torts coaches.......

We're supposed to have that kind of footspeed too..... But Ruff just doesn't want to use that forecheck.......

(Sorry, I promised myself no more whining about Ruff after the break......)

Sabres can not use the forecheck as the forwards are to small. Footspeed along with the poke check's just will not cut it.

Actually my experience is different. I have founde that size is not the predominant factor... it's speed. I've run it with small quick forwards and it works great..... (HS/AA Tier II) I have found that any defenseman.... even Norris winners ... will cough up the puck if you take away their space and comfort zone.

I don't use thunderous hits to separate the man from the puck, we teach taking the proper angle and eliminating offensive options which leads to them panicing with the puck.
