He doesn't bring any particular skill to the table that we couldn't find in a younger, more promising player on the free agent market. We have a marked lack of toughness in the bottom 6, replacing Darche with a guy like Prust would do us some good.
For sure. Definitely agree with the younger thing. Even if we found a 23-24 year old who was only as good as Darche, at least he could still get better. And I don't think it would be very difficult to find someone who fit that criteria...

I don't think it's too healthy for Leblanc's career the call up today. I am against rushing youngsters, especially in hard times.

Could it be that some veterans are going to be moved soon?

Anyways I'd go with this lineup :

Pacioretty-Desharnais-Cole
Bourque-Plekanec-Leblanc
Moen-Eller-Kostitsyn
Weber/Darche-Gomez-Blunden

EDIT : Why not give Palushaj another chance? At best he'll help the team and raise his value. At worse he's going to help the tank

People don't trade true fourth liners at this point in the season? Next year we'll have White and Schultz, just need one more guy.

Because Schultz isn't ready for NHL hockey and Conboy, correct me if I'm wrong, has been injury plagued this season in hamilton. I think he may even be out for the season. Even if he was, last I heard he still hasn't really shown enough to be considered for a call-up.

I'm talking about the next game, not the next year. There are no gritty NHL ready players in Hamilton, Nokelainen is injured and Gomez/Weber have to play somewhere. Trust me I'd much rather see a healthy White in there!

Moen is on the 3rd line so we can showcase him

This line is far too ''green'' imho. The coach wouldn't be safe playing them more than 3 minutes per game. Conboy and Schultz are probably another year or two away from the NHL..

Actually i beg to differ. From what i heard they are both very close to the NHL. But it would be nice to hear from Dan on this one.

Schultz has a ways to go to improve his skating and conditioning to stick at the NHL level. Conboy is closer. Skates like the wind and won't hurt you defensively, but if any of you are expecting him to be some fantastic fighter, you might want to brace yourselves. Conboy is in the 'close your eyes and swing away' mold of fighter. Unlike some other posters, I think both will eventually make it, but you're jumping the gun.

It'd be a hell a fun 3 minutes though

These were my thoughts as well. One thing I will say, I didn't expect him to repeat but I do admit, I thought he might. He was pretty good in front of the net last year.

Maybe teams Goat is in talks with are being given a taste of Louie? If he gets lots of minutes in New Jersey I'm going to guess Louie is being showcased .

Gauthier is pretty dumb to trade our best forward prospect.

Meh. Unless they keep him up I don't see it becoming Turris 2.0

If they're keeping him up for the season that's crazy.

Even though I like what I've seen so far it does seem they're rushing him. It might be a situation where 2 vets are getting dealt at deadline, last nights game sealed it (hypothetical) and the org feels Louis is ready and would benefit more from NHL time versus AHL time at this point. Plus it may just so happen that in less than 30 days he's #9 on the offensive depth chart.

If Moen and Kostitsyn get traded for example... Who plays on the 3rd line with Lars Eller? Blunden and Noke? Come on, with Gionta injured we'd need Leblanc. Palushaj hasn't been as good as Leblanc has been at the NHL level thus far. Leblanc seems to have seamlessly adapted to the AHL. Maybe he can do the same with the NHL. Even PK required a full season of AHL but forwards are often quicker to develop.

Would have been perfectly fine with Leblanc in Hamilton for the rest of the year... why call him up in a loser environment when we are surely going to be tanking?

Should have kept AE with the team...

The constant back and forth was disruptive for MaxPac up to the point where he demanded he stay in the AHL until he was finally ready.

Please, play him with either Plekanec and Bourque, or with Eller and Kostitsyn. Either way, we'll have to do with one of Blunden or Gomez in as long as Moen and White aren't in, and seriously, if we'd have a semi competent (read : big and aggressive) 4th line C, we actually COULD have Gomez playing on the 4th line (and it would make sense).

How was Ryan White last time he played C?

Or actually, how was Blunden last time he played C?

I'd go with;

Patches - DD - Cole
Bourque - Pleks - Leblanc
Gomez - Eller - Kostitsyn
Darche (Moen if healthy) - Nokelainen (White if healthy) - Blunden

Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Bourque - ???? - Kostitsyn
Leblanc- ??? - ??? Maybe Galliger nx season
White- Blunden- ???

I would say Gionta, but for 5.5 mill you could do better then him for the third line.
The three players for the bottom 2 lines should be gretty with speed. A 13th forward that loves to drop the gloves
The smart management would be to play Gomez and Plekanec decent minutes even though they are playing like ****...unless they want to tank, go for it.

My take

Patches - DD - Cole
Bourque - Pleks - Leblanc
Gomez (Moen when healthy) - Eller - AK
Darche/Gomez - Noke/Gomez - Blunden/Gomez (White when healthy)

Been a while since White hasn't played C, isn't it?

Probably to take Moen's job on Eller's line. Blunden isn't good enough at hockey to play there and wouldn't if he wasn't Cunneyworth's favorite.

Agreed. Leblanc is pretty much a NHL lock, only question is his role. I got no issues with stints on the 4th liner for a couple games this season. However, for him to be a top 6 guy I think he'll have to be given a chance to dominate the AHL offensively.

Happy for Leblanc.

You know what I like the most about this young man? He always has his warrior face on. He's always so serious and focused. Seems very mature for his age, but that's just an impression. Although he has been through a lot these past few years. From his hometown to Harvard, back to the province of Quebec to Hamilton in the span of what, 2 years?

I'm sure he has grown a lot from those experiences and trips.

I don't know what kind of player he'll become for us, but I wish him the best. He's shown some good things so far despite being fresh out of the Q and starting the season on IR. Very happy to have him aboard!
