Kärpät Jokerit? Seems pretty random to me. Imo it should be Ilves - Tappara or Lukko - Ässät. Local teams/rivals playing against each others always makes the game more intense. You know, stuff like fights, hits, players giving everything to win etc.
Tappara vs. Ilves in Ratina? Maybe too small venue?
I have been thinking about, why it has to be in olympic stadium and read somethint that its wont nearly make any profit,, People cant see nothing,,,, i think that 5000-10000 people near to ring and more like back to basic mentality,,, it doesnt need vip rooms or anything like that

Hmmm. If you are talking profit about the Talviklassikko, Jokerit and HIFK made some profit (80%-20% split) --> Jokerit had money to sign bum Pihlman for example. But you have to remember that organizing these events costs ***** loads of money.
I had a crappy seat and the cold forced me to leave after 2 periods...I didn't put enough clothing layers... so if you want to see something in these events take a seat as up as possible and as much as clothing as possible.
Still no news about this winter's HIFK-Jokerit game but I'm sure it will come..personally it would be better after every 2 years or something.
Pelicans planning their game around the ski jumping hill. IMO Tampere should organize one and soon.

Because The Olympic stadium has more symbolic and historical value than any other sports venue in Finland.
And Finnpin; the exact same thing happened to me with the clothes and seat. (excluding the fact that i stayed) it was only like -2 and i was absolutely freezing. I guess it's that us southern Finns can't survive in the winter

Yeah, but it was good experience...next time I'll know I have to go there dressed up looking like a Michelin man

No, it's you kids that have become such ******* that you can't stand a little cold.

I'm not a kid (30 something) and I couldn't take it though like I said the clothing wasn't proper... plus the so called seat warmer I bought outside was crap... Olympic Stadium is like ice box.
Rival teams should make their winterclassics together..
KalPa - Jyp would be my favourite.. played in KuPs stadium
100% agree,, and also that KuPs stadium would be good place,,, In Jyvaskyla there is no many palces for WC,,, pesäpallo "stadium" would be almost only possible location,,,, if you dont do it on Jyvasjarvi
KalPa v. JYP outdoor game would be so awsome,,, if we could make somekind Facebook page and get like 10000 fans... maybe it would give the gm's courage to do this event... im so ***** to do this,, but if i have few friends,, together it might will work out...
Last time the grass field got damaged a little bit so that was the reason to cancel it this year even though IFK would have paid the rebuilding of the new field if it would get damaged again.
This can only happen with the Stadium Institute...too much bunch of old farts making decisions...
Olympic Stadium = should be made to museum or tear it down... Finland needs a new big modern Stadium anyways and people to run the show that knows what these kinds of events like winter classic means to the people, city and the culture life in general.
The most unbelievable thing about this is that the reason is the possible exhibition matches which could be played(and would probably make more sense to play) in any other stadium in Finland. They'll probably get like barely 5000 people to the game anyway...

Couldn't agree more with this.
There's Sonera Stadium just couple hundred meters away from Olympiastadion, use it. Or Veritas Stadion in Turku or Ratinan Stadion in Tampere...
