TO and EDM

What would TO want from EDM for Kulemin. I know he isn't having that great of a year but he is still young. I would like to have him on our 2nd line.

I'd offer up Ryan Jones.

Excluding the obvious players you guys wouldn't move there's no one on the Oilers Id want for Kulie.

I bet you would lol wont get Kulemin though. I wont lie though I like Jones style of play, just wouldn't be the key piece coming back to the Leafs if he was part of a deal for Kulemin.

Not good trading partners.

Oilers don't have anything suitable to get Kulemin. If Toronto moved him it would be in a package for an upgrade.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I suppose the Oilers already have their own RFA forward to sign in the off season (Gagner), so acquiring Kulemin isn't exactly a high priority in my mind.

I suppose the Oil and Leafs could swap Gagner and Kulemin, but I don't think either fanbase will feel that it'd be a necessary trade.

Not even close. Going to have to be a better dman than that and switch the 2nd to your 1st.

Unless we are getting an upgrade somewhere else we don't make the move.

I.e
1st(edm) for Aulie + Kulemin

then

1st(edm) + 1st(tor) + Connolly
for Getzlaf or Staal or something of this magnitude.

Lupul-Getzlaf/Staal-Kessel
Kadri-Grabovski-MacArthur
Lombardi-Bozak-Armstrong
Brown-Steckel-Crabb

You can say "value isn't there" in either trades. But the leafs will not move a top 6er. Unless we have another trade in mind for a big upgrade.

Outside of the obvious... there's really nothing of interest on the Oilers with regards to Kulemin. He's our only top 6 player with size, and even though his offensive output has left a lot to be desired this year, his two way game has been excellent. Those lacklustre numbers also may help keep his cost down.

Realistically... if Toronto's going to trade for a player, it needs to be a player that would be one of the following:

- Clearly one of our 3 best forwards.
- Clearly one of our 2 best defenceman.
- A proven #1 goaltender (although I dont think Burke would do it)
- A proven 50+ point forward with size (who uses it).

I don't see anyone on the Oilers who fits that criteria, and there's no sense of dumping Kulemin for a package because the Leafs already have plenty of depth & guys in the AHL that could play in the NHL. They need to consolidate some of that depth into higher end talent.

@tempest2i... there shouldn't be much if any interest from a Leaf standpoint on Gagner. Toronto already has too many 2nd/3rd line centres.

Not sure what Edmonton could/would offer to Toronto that would make them better off without Kulemin.

Oilers couldn't offer anything realistic to make this work.

If we were rebuilding still I'd say Klefbom +

As it stands however, there's no realistic option from Edmonton for Kulemin, as obviously the big 3 are off limits.

Makes no sense to move Kulemin when people deem his stock to be "low".

Besides. He's not valuable enough to get the players Toronto want yet too valuable to give up for anything else.

Well at least you 200th post was a memorable one. A 25 year old 40 point winger, project dman and a mid second does not get you a lottery pick

Kul vanishes for periods and Aulie will be a 5-6 dman

if Kulemins offensive play hasnt been good, how is he then playing excellent two way hockey?

That's very realistic of you!

I completely agree.

I don't see Burke trading this guy, either. He plays exactly like a Brian Burke kinda forward.
