CBJ/LA: Kings Score last second goal after clock malfunction. [YT Post #1]

Anyone see that? Clock stopped at 1.8 seconds, then started up again, then the kings score with .2 seconds left to win. All while play went on.

WHAT?!?! Blue Jackets about to be royally screwed

Turn on Center Ice if you have it... Jackets tied with LA 2-2, last few seconds of play. The clock FREEZES at 1.8 seconds for a least a full second while play goes on, and LA scores with 0.3 seconds left in the game... Ridiculous. I have never seen anything remotely that outrageous in my entire life as a hockey fan. No review either...

The players are now in their locker rooms...

Stunned.

Doesn't surprise me in the least. We've lost in so many ways this year, might as well find some brand new ones.

Did the game clock freeze, or just the one on the broadcast?

Um, first of all the Jackets have no hope of making the playoffs this year. None.

They will probably finish dead last and will end up with Yakupov or Grigorenko. That's hardly screwed.

That's the strangest thing I think I've seen in any sporting event, ever.

The clock...stopped...with 1.8 seconds to go, restarted, and the Kings scored theoretically when the game should've been over.

That's the type of shady timekeeping normally reserved for college football.

Did it really stop, though? Sometimes the TV clock isn't synchronized with the real clock. I remember some Devils fans thinking there was a conspiracy in Carolina when 10 seconds mysteriously vanished off the clock late in a game when the Devils were trailing by a goal, but it was just simply a case of the clocks not being synchronized.

And the clock freeze had to have been .6-.8 seconds.

The in-arena clock was superimposed on the replay, not the FSN clock. Also, the goal was initially waved off.

This is going to end well.

Sure, it doesn't matter. Even those of us in CBJ land who are up at 1am watching the last place team in the league know that. BUT:

If this happens to a contender, this thread is 10 pages in minutes and all over radio/tv/internet the next day.

This is the kind of thing you need the NHL to get right every time, regardless of teams or standings. Period.

That's what I'm wondering as well. I mean with as many keepers of time in an arena and in Toronto you'd like to believe that couldn't happen.

I remember in Montreal a few years ago, something similar happened. The Sabres were playing the Habs, and with less than 10 seconds to play the clock inexplicably stopped during a flurry of play around the Sabres net. The clock ran for several seconds longer than when the game should have been over, until the officials finally noticed and after a review, ruled the game over.

I can't believe they let this goal stand.
