Statistically gustavsson has the edge on reimer regarding starting in the battle of ontario.
this is less important when you realize Reimer's stats are skewed because of that breakdown the entire team had in a that 5-0 game that eventually turned into a 6-5 game this year

not just looking at the stats, im looking at the games
Reimer: 133(shots against) 122(saves made) Goals Given Up: 11
Gustavsson: 140(shots againsts) 130(saves made) Goals Given Up: 10

Last time reimer played against ottawa: 3.04 GAA and .857(after concussion)
Last time Gustavsson played aginst ottawa: 3.08 GAA and .900(grabovski injured and we didn't muster up anything for offense, while bozie was injured as well I believe)

ah good point, I didn't take that into account.

Well then it seems more that reimer should be the right one for this match.

Ignore my previous post then, as reimer definitely does get the edge as McCraig pointed out.

7 out of last 8 points. Feels good.

Now we need to rock Ottawa.

Win, and we tie them with two games in hands.

Lose, and we're four points behind with two games in hand

Huuuuuge game. Ottawa plays Friday so they should be nice and tired. But IIRC we lost to Ottawa (maybe it was the Habs) when they were on second half of a back to back, I remember being very confident we would win because of that and then we didnt, we cant get cocky especially if Spezza uses his goalie-sitting tactic some more.

Ottawa plays us on the tail end of a back-to-back every game this year. It's had no effect the last 3 times, so it's on the Leafs to step up

Having Armstrong will help.

He'll chirp all the goons ottawa has and get them to take penalty after penalty.

Then we can laugh as they whine some more about how there's a league wide conspiracy against them.

Shouldn't Scotiabank place be ACC 3.0? C'mon, we all know that First Niagara Center in Buffalo is ACC 2.0

Huge huge huge game. We need to win this to close the gap/prevent it from getting any larger. Granted we still have games in hand on them, but this will be extremely beneficial to win this game. You better believe they will be motivated after the last few duds against the Sens. And how the last game ended (and the Foligno/Phaneuf cheap shot)

so when the team has a breakdown with gustavsson in net it's always blamed on him, but when it happens to reimer it's irrelevant? lol.

as long as no one sits on top of our goalies and get away with a goal like Spezza did, we should be fine

no I'm just saying basically every other game with either of those goalies in net has been very close, frankly I'm comfortable with either starting

Interesting stat by Mirtle.

The only regular starters in the NHL ahead of Reimer's .934 right now are Elliott, Lundqvist, Halak, Thomas, Quick and Howard.

If Leafs decide to play the disciplined style of hockey they have been playing lately, Reimer might be the go to guy.

PS: Gustavsson's save % at even strength is 0.914 (for comparison).

---------------------------------------------
So, same ol' question again. Who starts against Ottawa?
EDIT: Oops, just realised there is already a poll started.

Pretty sure he's talking about taking them, not giving them.

leafs are tied for 6th in the NHL in total shutouts. Lets get another one vs the Sens! Riemer will get the start and claim back #1 G !
