Against a physical team like San Jose we need to dress Dowell imo. Just make Fistric a permanent member of the top 6 and get rid of Grossman, Robidas, or Souray.

Can't win a faceoff to save our lives either.

Razor just said it. This team is mentally soft too. And it starts with the Captain.
It's not like we don't get outworked on most "regular" nights too. Those other beat downs at the hands of San Jose weren't on the 2nd night of back to backs.

Scrambling so bad. Horrible.

That might have been the worst period I've seen us play this year.

Well, it'll be a new period for what that's worth.
Bad first periods are almost an automatic for this team.

why not just fire the conditioning staff. What could it hurt?

maybe it shakes the guys up a bit. I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of them have gotten kind of palsy with the players over the years.

I feel bad for Bachman out there. So much traffic in front of the net and the Dallas dmen don't have a clue back there.

Bachman, Larsen, Fistric, and Burish were about the only four who showed up that period. So our back up rookie goalie, our rookie dman, our #6 or 7 dman, and a 4th liner with no offensive ability looked to be the only ones trying. Great formula for success.

Why would you blame the conditioning staff when Nieuwendyk has assembled one of the oldest teams in the league?

I agree, but at this point I think a culture of laziness exists in the room. The same culture that's been there for the past 3-4 years.

Larsen really did look good. It's amazing how he's already our #1. Goligoski was giving him a workout with all the messes he was making.

That culture has been lurking around since 06-07, probably before, with Modano's laziness.

It's gotten way worse ever since Morrow came back from his season long injury in 08/09.

Larsen was really flying out there a few times. I'm not a huge fan of those two being paired together. I'd prefer a stay at home guy with each of them or at least Daley because he's more responsible in his own end.

Robidas-Grossman
Goose-Fistric
Larsen-Daley

Maybe something like that with Souray scratched. I'm no expert so not sure on the pairings.

It's not like the young players are noticeably better than the elders though. Pretty much everyone was brutal in that period except for Bachman.

**and I don't get blaming this on Nieuwendyk when it's not like he's ever sacrificed youth for experiance in a trade. Not yet anyway.
