2011-12 Mid-Season Prospect Poll: Who's #2?

1. RW Joel Armia, Assat Pori (SM-liiga, Finland), 45 of 59, 76.27% (runner up: Kassian, McNabb [tie])

Since I'm a firm believer in democracy, the people have spoken and Enroth shall be removed from the poll. The two highest vote-getters to be added were Gauthier-Leduc (17) and Catenacci (14), both of whom will be added to this poll.

HF's prospect criteria can be found here: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/whatmakesaprospect/

Forwards: Riley Boychuk, Cedrick Henley, Christian Isackson, Colin Jacobs, Justin Jokinen, Jacob Lagace, Brad Navin, Steven Shipley, Gregg Sutch, Shawn Szydlowski, Travis Turnbull

Question: Does Finley count as a prospect or is he too old? If he does, add him.

If he doesn't, add Biega I guess.

Based on the following criteria, it looks like he does qualify. For now, anyways...

Quote:
Conversely, if a player completes the season of his 24th birthday without passing those milestones, then that player will no longer be considered a prospect by Hockey’s Future, regardless of the player’s status with his NHL club.
He's 24, but since he hasn't yet completed his 24th birthday season, he's eligible--Finley was born in June 1987, so he didn't turn 24 until after the completion of last season. But this will be the only poll for which he's eligible, because he becomes ineligible after this season.

I will add Finley to possible adds.

I thought about it for a bit, but I went with McNabb. I think he can be a 30+ point, second-pairing defenseman with serious physicality and nastiness.

Add Finley. (Man, pickings are slim after the top-10.)

It's darn close, isn't it?

Kassian's shown some very good things offensively both at the AHL and NHL levels. It's the consistency/effort thing that's dogging him and cutting his stock down. Without the mope session after re-assignment, I'd have had him here at #2, but it's just enough of a doubt to push him back to 3 and take Brady instead.

Add.... Lieuwen. Still think he's going to be a gamer one day.

Kass, add Biega. Liked what I saw of him in Rochester, better future than Schiestel at this point IMO

That happens when there are a lot of graduates to the pro ranks. They go from top-dog on their junior or college teams to showng off their warts as a professional, against better competition.

It also points to their need to grow their prospect base.

Vote McNabb, add M. MacKenzie. What about the Varone/Parker team of prospects might qualify, not sure though.

I think that if both McNabb and Kass bring to the team what they're maximum capabilities are, they both possess rare skill sets.

I think McNabb and his, however, are a tad more of a sure thing at this point than Zack.

Add Biega

I agree with most in this thread, McNabb over Kassian. I will fully admit I am surprised by McNabb and he has exceeded my expectations already of what I thought he would be.

Add Finley I guess (since he still counts).

As a big Kassian fan, I say add McNabb. The kid's got everything you want in a defensemen.

Add Jacobs.
