I would either take away 1 point from LA and give it to Columbus. Otherwise give Columbus a point or have the two play a 5 minute OT in Columbus just for that point.

I agree with you. However the NHL already sad they cant change this.
nothing will happen, and I'm sure its happened before in other sports, but not in this dramatic of circumstances (goal being scored in the dying seconds).

That look awfully suspect. If their is a problem the league needs to correct that like yesterday. Could you imagine if that was game 7 of a playoff round? Also if the clock does self correct, it shouldn't do it that close to zero.

say this was spotted right away as in right as the goal happened.. then what would they have done? how woudl the war room have handled that?
ages ago in an isles-rags game with butch as our coach, we had dealt with a similar issue.. we were on a PK, the clock froze for about 10 seconds, instead of our guy coming out of the box, he was stuck in the box still despite the clock being frozen, the rangers score, butch throws a huge fit b/c we were shorthanded for 10 seconds longer than it should have, yet they still allwoed the goal to count..

That would horrible. If it happened against us I'd seriously lose it.. But we'd need to make the playoffs first. Regardless of situation it still sucks for Columbus they gotta feel screwed and rightfully so.
It goes beyond pathetic. It's a disgrace, and that's worse than pathetic. At some point, logic has to come into play. but like you say about a black eye for the sport, logic goes beyond the sport's hierarchical capacity. That play needed to be reviewed, the time that the clock was stuck on 1.8 had to be calculated and deducted. This is really horrible. Can you imagine if this happened in a game 6 or a game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final? And with that said, the Calgary Flames still won the Stanley Cup in 2004. A goal that went off of Martin Gelinas in game 6 failed to make it's way to review. So that also lends itself to the league's lack of responsibility.
I just saw the replay on NHL.com; my opinion? There's an off-ice official who should be fired in Los Angeles. The puck goes out of sight for a split second, and I'm guessing the the off-ice official anticipates a whistle that never came and stopped the clock. Or, it's possible that he tried to stop it at a less conspicuous 2.0 seconds. Either way, I strongly believe that the person who operates the clock goofed, and should be appropriately penalized for it.
the clocks do malfunction without human cause and stop, which is why theres 2 guys with stopwatches also timinig the game yet why were neitehr of them talkign to the officials..
kerry fraser said 1 guy is in the video review room in the home stadium and the other is in the penalty box.. as he says, of course none of the 3 either ever match b/c of reaction time, but both stop watches should have been at 0:00 regardless... and someone should have said something..
was the goal even reviewed on the ice to check the time it crossed? if so, how does the reviewer not see the frozen clock and call toronto on this, even if it wasnt being reviewed by the refs, why was there no buzz to the score table for the review guys upstairs to verify the time the puck crossed the line?
something clearly is not matching up here... video review should have been an immediate call as soon as the puck went in seeing as the clock read 0:00, toronto should have been following that play immediately watching the clock to see the cross over hte line time, and if they did, they would have seen the clock stop and called LA ..
where is the communication line here? someone isnt saying something...
