Hey Neuvirth had a great team in front of him that why he won back to back Calder Cups and should have won back to back MVP trophies but the team Grubrauer has in front of him is just atrocious. I mean it has to be sooo tough for him to sit in front of defenseman like Paul Baier and Phil Oreskovic and Brett Flemming and Johann Kroll and Zack Tarkir who all have played in the AHL and should be on AHL teams. Oh not to mention the SC offense that has a few AHL players on it as well.
And to throw another stat out, Neuvirth has only one playoff loss in NA, the loss to the TBL. But he is just an average goalie on all levels and has been soooo lucky to get on a ton of championship teams that were amazing
No no you guys, Grubauer is the flavor of the month. He won ECHL rookie of the month, which is way more impressive than 2 consecutive Calder cups 2 years ago, and NHL rookie of the month last year.
Neuvirth has regressed. If he and Holtby are our only options going into next season, then we are a bubble playoff team. I liked the Varly trade, and still do, but Neuvirth's "development" this season has to be alarming to McPhee, at best....and down right scary to McPhee, at worst.
Or maybe neither, for if we miss the playoffs, McPhee's problems should very well be someone else's problems as he goes to be the assistant GM in Vancouver (and the first lead GM candidate probably hired, say in C-Bus or something).
Yeah but this isn't a cup contending team right now.
Chicago would be with Vokoun.
Without having any bias, do you think Vokoun has a better chance to win a cup here or in Chicago next year?
thats such a moving target man. Going into the season, that answer would have been "in DC" more times than "in Chicago". Now halfway thru the season, its changed. Halfway through next season, it may change back.
You're just trying to bolster your Neuvirth arguments
This team needs more than a #2 C and #19 and #52 to get healthy. They need to make some moves and this team needs a major shakeup. Even firing BB and hiring DH hasn't worked as well as anyone had planned.
Kevin Marshall is a pretty legit prospect. He played for Lewtown when I was working for the team. Tough as nails kid who may be a bottom pairing guy if we keep him.
He could get a shot in DC at some point. Assuming he shows well in Hershey, that gives them a couple of D re-call options along with Kundratek. (Collins is probably too slow...) Perhaps contingency planning in the event that Erskine and/or Schultz are dealt.
Hearing he is an agitator mid sized (presumably mobile) LD, I immediately thought it could mean Erskine could be on the block. Although when is the last time George traded a Dman in February? Erskine hasnt exactly failed for Dale. I still think Dale loves Sarge and wont trade him.
Quote from Phantoms beat writer that shows how good our D depth is....Paterson also reports that Marshall is excited to be joining Washington organization, where he feels depth chart has him closer to NHL.
Flyers fan in peace to ask about Ford and give my opinion on Marshall.
Honestly, I can't see Marshall being anything more than an AHL vet/NHL emergency call up. His skating leaves a lot to be desired, especially his turning/pivot ability. He's also pretty small for the physical game he tries to play. First pass and puck handling in general leaves a lot to be desired. He will stand up for his teammates though, and has awesome dance moves.
Is Ford nothing more than an AHL vet, or can he be a serviceable NHL injury call-up?
do the caps have a roster slot open or does a move need to be made if aucoin is coming? with ov coming back, they are full already. does this mean eakin is going back? no chance they send recker back to hershey BEFORE the habs game.....is there?
