In all likelihood their puck should fall n the area of the top forwards (obviously top dmen too but there's depth). If you're edm you SHOULD acquire a top dman with experience that's older or even with stud forwards (see gmgm's mistakes).

Now that said... I could see us as good trading partners for that pick.

Re-sign Wideman and trade one of below per-draft:

-Green (if healthy for last 20 games) & Sarge for top 5 pick (after lottery say its 4) and Gagne
-Carlson for pick straight up
-orlov plus avs (say 12) for #4 overall.

If I'm edm I'm only really interested in those 3.

for #FOUR Overall?!? You kidding?
No way i'd trade Orlov + for that.

I have watched every game, been to a bunch. You have no valid points. I provide solid proof, you cry MP85 is our best player trolololol

Why is our only producing player worth being traded. Let me guess, you want Wideman gone too because Carlson can take his spot?
Lost soul, where are you getting I said MP was our best player???????? I said he is, based on YOU computing your STATS OVER THE LAST SEVERAL GAMES.

MP has shown he is a good AHLer and we are seeing if he can be consistent in the NHL without being destroyed due to his size.

Trading Orlov for anything is a major fail, even the idea of it. Right now, him and Alzner are the stalwarts for this team's defense.

Yep and here is to hoping not this year.

Even the idea of trading Carlson for a pick straight up is a dumb idea. Orlov, Carlson, Alzner, and Green should be what we build our defense around. I would rather ship out Wideman for a 1st rounder from a team that is desperate for a PMD for a cup run. The PMDs at the trade deadline always net some good returns

Orlov isn't playing much. I think his influence on games is around 5th within Dmen. After Alzner, Wideman, Carlson and Hamrlik. Exactly as his TOI says.

That's not a negative but it's too early... anyway, trading him is crazy.

I think trading Wideman could easily lead a team on the way out of playoff contention. That could be significant money loss for Ted.

I would ink him for several years. Even another GM can trade him later if needed.

So Orlov is now a stalwart on the defense and Carlson isn't?

What happens if Orlov has a sophomore slump next year, or hits the rookie wall this year?

It's my opinion that you trade from strength to address weaknesses. IMHO we have 4 quality rt side pmds. 3 young, 2 very young. Very strong position. And as much as I believe in the kids, you can't win, IMHO, with that much youth on D.

Now. Add in the uncertainty of semin, the upcoming contracts for 52/74, potential of resigning TV, and my belief that having studs on elc in forward position (see kuz plus top 4 2012) and that drives my recent thoughts.

neither of 52/74 deserve a big contract.

Carlson i can see getting a $3.5-4mil per contract.

Green... who the **** knows.
Hopefully us sucking without him doesn't effect the contract talks in his mind.

And you couldn't be more transparent in who you were talking about.

The Price/Halak situation has literally nothing to do with the Caps goaltending situation, nor is it at all comparable. It's ok. I get it. You're being a homer and aren't going to stop. It's admirable in a way, I guess. But I'm done with it.

Carlson is in that group. I just like how Orlov has the physical side to his game. I'm not for trading any of the young defensemen.

Are you serious on the assist??
Do you even know how he got the assist?
He fell on his ass, Laich picked up the LOOSE puck and tried to stuff it, with Hendricks putting it home.
You just answered why you rely on STATS and STATS only.

If Green shows he can play. He could bring back a legit 2C and a top 4D. And we can get out from under him before the house of cards falls apart again. Yes the teams breakout is missing him. But the 2C would go a long way in helping this team.

Letting Wideman walk in hopes Green can stay healthy is asking for trouble all over again. We may have got lucky this time with Grenn. But I would not push it and move him while he still has value. He easily could have turned into Chris Clark (And still might)

I would feel much better putting my money on Carlson bouncing back then Green playing 60+ games.

If Semin's play bothers you this much, I can't even imagine how much you want Ovechkin traded.
