Really happy with that first period. I figured we might have some trouble out of the gate getting our speed/timing back and the Kings did own the first five-ish minutes, but once those passes started connecting and the Blues got a good forecheck established I was impressed with how they took over the period. I'm expecting some pushback from L.A. in the second but if we can sustain that level of intensity we'll be in good shape.
That was the easiest period to predict ever. LA never scores in the first, are very solid defensively, the Blues still carry the majority of the play and have the better quality chances but don't convert. LA gets a few dangerous moments when the Blues can't clear the zone in a timely fashion.
Berglund looks to have some legs tonight on both ends of the ice. That's promising.
LOVE the tidbit about Perron spending his vacation 4 hours a night on outdoor rinks in Sherbrooke. That kid is the ultimate hockey rat. Can you imagine the torture that concussion must have been for him? Some guys go to the Bahamas, Perron relaxes playing pickup hockey 4hrs a night on outdoor rinks.
