I don't think Lidstrom will still be playing, he will most likely retire before then. When Lidstrom retires he will be done playing all hockey, even on an international level.

It is possible that he keeps playing for another year or two, so there's always a possibility he makes it to the Olympics, he is certainly still capable of it.

Suter, Parise or Callahan are all good choices, I think it will entirely depend on how their careers go in the next couple years, but I'd be willing to bet its one of them.

Canada has a ton of options here depending on who is still playing, I think Iginla would be a good choice unless he has a major drop off.

Crosby would likely get it for Canada.

I think Callahan will end up wearing the "C" for Team USA. Crosby will probably wear the "C" for Canada if he is healthy.

Canada went with Niedermeyer in 2010. Makes you think that if Pronger/Iginla are still around, one of them would be (with edge to Pronger).

If a young captain, I'd think Toews.

I could see Pavelski getting an A for Team USA....guy has good leadership qualities. Callahan wouldnt bother me as a C.

I think it will be Parise, but if Tortorella is the HC, then probably Callahan (unless the HC doesn't decide who the captain is).

USA will be one of Parise, Kesler or Callahan, Suter has a good chance too. I'm so pumped for the games and there's still 2 years to go

Would love to see Callahan get the C for USA. But my guess would be Parise, and Callahan would get an A.

Daniel Sedin has to be a captain at least once, he's probably jealously of his brother.

Doubt young guys like Karlsson and Landeskog get a sniff at C or A with so many vets ahead like Sedins and Zetterberg.

Pronger will prob not last til 2014 will all his injuries. Toews makes sense as a stand in for Crosby if he's still concussed.

Too many studs in their 20's to choose from that are better than these guys.

C - Crosby or if he is done like everyone says, Toews, for sure.

Finland will most likely go with:
C: Mikko Koivu. A: Timonen. A: Ruutu

Olli Jokinen is retired from the national team. Granlund will be 21 by the time of Olympics and Finland always goes with the veterans on captaincy so he has no chance.

Even if Lidström is still playing in 2014 I doubt he makes the team ahead of Karlsson, Edler, Enström, Larsson, Kronwall, or Hedman (bust???) / OEL / Rundblad / Brodin / Gunnarsson.

If he does then something is seriously ****ed up with Sweden's D.

He is way better right now than most of the players you mentioned and he does not seem to slow down too fast either. I doubt he will be there but I think he would make the team if he continued to play. Anyway, Alfie is going to captain the team. I think he will play for 2 more years, he looks really good right now.
