Split your Split!

As promised I've been doing some juggling with my split routine and I can say give it a try it realls works. Basically instead of doing one group only a day I'm doing two but more intense (i.e. Biceps and Chest).

In order to gain some much needed explosiveness and stamina I've been trying spinning and mixed it with martial arts sports.Gonna continue in doing so till I see my PT again by the end of march.

Has anyone else changed his routine in the new year and might wanna share it?

Just started Rippetoe's Starting Strength:

Workout A
Barbell Squats 3x5
Bench Press 3x5
Deadlifts 1x5

Workout B
Barbell Squats 3x5
Overhead Press 3x5
Power Cleans 5x3
Chin-ups 2x10

I'd be jumping from program to program and not really sticking with it, so I splurged and bought a really nice squat rack and bench. I'm just going to build up a nice base of functional strength while eating as clean a diet as possible and avoiding alcohol.

I'm hoping to drop 20-30 pounds by summer time while either keeping or increasing my lean muscle mass a little bit. I figure since I'm basically "untrained" in terms of strength that should be possible.

ok, it's a little overweight, but not extreme. you can probably eat at maintenance and make a couple of months progress on SS until that will no longer be enough and your strength gains will slow.

keep weighing yourself and adjust your calories according to whether the scale is going in the direction you want.
