I agree with you that Nash seems to "dog" it, and I have my theory for why that is. Basically, I see Nash as a grown up version of a CHL Top Prospect. He's used to being by far and away the best player on the team, so he doesn't go 100% every night in order to save his energy (because he is so heavily defended and utilized).
In my opinion, keeping Nash is worth it because of his being the face of the franchise (kind of like Alfredsson in Ottawa). Sure, if we can get a package that will significantly improve the team, pursue it, but I don't think Nash would get that type of return.

I can see what you mean. Players who can put up great stats usually save their energy for the Ozone. Like Jagr, he never hit or played physical. He occassionally backchecked, but everyone knew his bread and butter was puck possession in the ozone and scoring goals.
Anyway, this was a fun game to watch. Brass, Carter and Sanford were key players but I saw the CBJ team in general play to win as the game came to it's close... If we could play every game as we played tonight we would not be the worst team in the league...
Also found that our little Brass is one of the Compuware 3 stars on the NHL.com home page right now. So is Teemu but we won't pay any attention to that. LOL

Thank you for the links, Brass has had a tough go over the last three years but I think he is a little warrior... I myself had to be a little Dorsett guy tonight which is rare...
I don't know. I think I'd stick with the guy who is pegged as a top prospect and is smart enough to recognize that playing at an exhibition skills competition all-star showcase game can't really do anything to help him but could end up hurting him...
Plus how can you hate a guy who gives an interview like this:

I guy named Sidney Crosby didn't come to Vancouver when they hosted the top prospects game as well. Like Crosby, Yakupov knows he's going 1, maybe 2nd overall. He doesn't need to prove himself to the scouts.

That clip was so awesome, if he would have said we beat Canada one more time he would be in the dog house.. that is a guy I want on my team... future Captain material under a good organization..
Couldn't have watched this one tonight even if I'd wanted to (well ok I did want to), but glad to read through these comments and see a come from behind win. Glad for Brassard for sure, is he coming back into his long lost rookie form, with the chip on his shoulder? A fight last game?
Agree with those not entirely comfortable with the Carter trade thing. A seriously fouled up season this year, I for one would like to give it another go with Carter and see if he can embrace this team and the city and choose to fight for the little guy. Who knows? Point taken though that if he's on the block, it's his choice and not management's.
am I the only one who is bothered by everybody talking about Nail Yakupov as if he were already on our team?
I feel like you are setting us all up to be devastated if we don't get the first pick.... isn't it like a 50/50 chance for the worst team to win the lottery? the jackets have horrible luck. just saying...

1)Even if we lose, we can't go down past 2nd overall. Even with the 2nd overall pick, we will still get a great prospect. When Edmonton drafted Hall 1st, even if they lost, they would have picked Seguin at numbee 2. So even if we miss out on Yakupov, we still have a shot at the other Russian. Only bad thing about losing is, A)fans laugh at us but who cares B)we don't have the spotlight on us at the draft and C)possible trading chip. Had we had the 1st, perhaps we were fine with trading the pick for the 2nd and something. I don't see us trading the 2nd for 3rd + something.
According to some site, here were the odds for last lottery draft
Edmonton - 25.0%
Colorado – 18.8%
Florida – 14.2%
N.Y. Islanders - 10.7%
Ottawa – 8.1%
Atlanta – 6.2%
Columbus – 4.7%
New Jersey - 3.6%
Boston (from Toronto) - 2.7%
Minnesota – 2.1%
Colorado (conditional/optional from St. Louis) - 1.5%
Carolina – 1.1%
Calgary – 0.8%
Dallas – 0.5%
Last time a last place team lost was when Philly lost and Chicago won. Chicago picked Kane Philly pick JVR.
It wasn't meaningless. I think they called it "tremendous". It was to showcase the top prospects.
He played 3 games in 3 nights but couldn't appear for this big deal? Hmm.
And here we go...
His GM didn't want to send him and the doctors didn't think it was wise. I don't see how anybody could possibly hold this against him, I think it's pretty admirable he put the team ahead of showcasing himself.
