I would keep Scuderi and Johnson. Maybe Moller and Holloway come back if Dean is gone and they are used in a balanced attack that uses the middle of the ice. The Kings need to get their players away from the boards and play "risky" hockey in the offensive zone. They have the defenseman and goalie(s) that can handle it.
At this point I'd move Stoll for a 2nd and bring up Cliche. He can't be any less productive and LA gains a 2nd. Hunter should be moved for a 5th or waived.
I'm not opposed to you're idea of a mini-rebuild, but I wouldn't take it to that extreme.
I agree with the mini-rebuild idea, but I also agree with johnjm22.
I'm still concerned at what DL will do between now and the deadline. I'm sure he feels he's done here if they don't make it past the second round. With that in mind, and knowing he wouldn't be able to see a mini-rebuild through this offseason, I can't see him doing anything other than making some bold moves (i.e. potentially poor moves for the organization based on team's history) or nothing at all and go down with the ship.
I've got no issue with the Kings being sellers this deadline, but at this point, personally, I don't want Lombardi trading away any non-UFA asset (i.e., Bernier/Johnson/Scuderi) that might be, shall we say, "put to better use in the future"....
Penner, Stoll, and Martinez are the only players I would shop around right now. Maybe a swap of underachieving players? Package something with Martinez+ for a top 6 forward?
Paajarvi has 0 goals in 34 games. He'd fit right in.
And 15 last year. He's taken a step backward, but Lehtinen came over to great promise as a 23 year old and managed 6 goals his first year. Young players take time, but MPS could still be a very good player and if we had a chance at him I'd love to get him.
Back to Carter for a minute, Dreger says that Columbus has only received one offer for him, and that it's a low one at that.

I assume we are one of the usual suspects he refers to, meaning LA has stated they didn't make an offer.
I would assume it is Toronto.

It is just a suggestion by the writer more than a rumor, but I can see Burke looking to acquire Penner.
I dunno, I just don't feel we will get all that much from Toronto, and even if we do, there is little I really desire from that team. MacArthur, if he were even possible, wouldn't really be much of an upgrade, I can totally see him turning into Penner 2.0 here, he is the kind of player that excels in a system like Toronto's that promotes that offense and creativity.

He's always been pretty liberal when it comes to trading away 2nd round picks. Remember when he traded a 2nd to Colorado for Parros?
If we could get a 2nd for Penner, or even a 3rd, that would be great.
Might as well deal him, he is going to walk as a UFA so even a draft pick is better than nothing. A waste of a 1st and Teubert....so, technically two 1sts.
The supposed asking price for Penner is a 2nd + prospect. Looking to free up cap space.
Seriously? Is this from a credible source Telos?
I think Burke might bite. He has had Dustin before he may be one of those players like Moulson and Purcell that plays better in the East where it's not as fast. Kings have already paid most of that 4.5 million by Feb.
