I'm curious if it's precautionary or not for Spezza.

Why Jim O'brien? If Spezza is out, Da Costa or Locke should be here ahead of O'brien.

Stache only plays call-ups 3 minutes a game on the 4th line so does it really matter?

Yeah. Jiimmy is going to nothing more than a 4th liner anyway so lets see if he can plug for next year.

@tsn_wally: O'Brien has been recalled to replace Spezza who missed the morning skate due to "maintenance". Waiting to confirm Spezza is out for sure.

Perhaps they want to see if he can step in and replace Butler's 4th line minutes.

Or maybe he's on the trading block?

Anyway, its nice to see him get a chance.

Ya know...he's exactly who I had in mind if the Sens were looking at a depthy rental and didn't want to give up a 3rd and, obviously, can't give up a 2nd.

Better chance at the NHL than the average 3rd rounder. Has been groomed as a checking center in Binghamton, has little chance to play center in Ottawa. Hell, they might like Wacey Hamilton more than JOB.

Yep. I've heard the Sens have discussed moving him for decent prospects (2009 2nd rounder at about .5PPG in the A, 2009 1st rounder at about .6PPG in the A) but I always thought it made more sense to trade him for a rental. I agree, he looks like he should at least be a good 4th line player... which is valuable if you know you're getting him for 5 more years and he has the upside to be a bit better.

Those are two separate pieces I've heard mentioned as a return for JOB. Won't drop names because 1) Not cool and 2) Its far from reliable and as such I don't want to put out anything concrete.

On JOB I thought he did okay with limited minutes, he has the size to play on any line, he is still young, can play RW or C & he finishes his checks hits & can play a good two way game. He is good defensively & can help on the PK & has decent speed. I think he is a good depth player for us but could also be used as a trade asset. He is the kind of player that produces in the playoffs. My only problem with him is that he isn't tough enough & rarely drops them.
