[LA/CLB]Carter/Sanford for Bernier/Stoll

On the NHL network, they just discussed this rumor. At first it looks a little lopsided in the Kings' favour, but when you think about Carter's contract and Bernier's potential, it starts to make a little more sense.

This is the first I've heard of it, is anyone else discussing this rumor and am I just late to the party?

I think that LA would have to add. But if that trade goes down CBJ will be in deep trouble....

Carter's contract? 5 mill is cheap as **** for a first line center who can score. LA has to add.

when i think of Carter's contract, I think its fantastic. a #1 C locked up through his prime, no threat of leaving as UFA.

yup, whats the problem? its not like its huge $$$, its an excellent rate.

teams need to spend at least 49 odd million, its not like this is taking up 25% of the cap.

fantastic contract, thats why Carter is choked. he gave a huge discount to PHI to stay there and now he is stuck playing for (relative) peanuts with no say in the matter of where plays ever again.

Yeah, but it's $5.2 million per season until 2021-22 for a guy with 17 points in 30 games this year. It's a risk.

And, yeah, I'm hearing it would be Bernier/Stoll/defenceman prospect (Presumably Voynov).

The contract also ends sometime in 2137 and there's chirps of locker room problems (both in Philly & Columbus)...I think this is going to be about as good as Columbus is going to do, unfortunately for them. There's a lot of good in acquiring a guy like Carter, and a lot of potential bad.

It would make sense though...it'd be pretty weird to see the Flyers once future core together again so soon.

If you add Voynov than it's a little better for the Jackets, but I still think it's lop-sided.

It would not be Slava, most likely a pick or Hickey.

There is no way the Kings give up Three roster players for Carter. When they only gave up One for Richards. That was a Healty Richards. Carter has been injured already this year. Also might have some other issues.

Columbus only gave Up one Roster player to get him.

Carter and Richards on the same team? Weren't the 2 of them the big problem in Philly in the first place?

Have heard, that LA don´t want to trade voynov in the richards trade, so i bet they don´t want it now. Voynov will stay in LA.

To the extent that a "big problem" existed, yes, they are involved--along with Lupul, Hartnell, and others.

But all of that is honestly pretty sensationalized. Young guys like booze and girls. Wow.

If the Kings get Carter for Bernier and Stoll, Columbus's GM will need to find another line of work.

You would think LA would try to get Kopitar a legit winger.
But if the deal in op is what is offered no way they turn it down.

Kopitar, Carter, and Richards down the middle would be pretty sick if this came to fruition.

This is true. This deal won't happen though. But, no reason Id say no as a Kings fan. Heck, we will throw in Martinez as well.

Question is why would Columbus want Stoll? Wouldn't they rather get somebody that benefits them a little bit more in the future along with Bernier?
