Carter is just the popular guy to hate on at the moment because he's not putting up the stats. Kind of J-Bouw was the popular guy to hate for a while after he signed a big deal with Calgary and his stats dipped.

Carter is a top 6 talent undoubtedly. He is one of the better snipers in the game. And he's not one of these softie sniper types who will disappear against physical opponents (see: Alex Semin). He can play center and the wing. Anyone who says he can't play the wing hasn't seen him play enough.

He'd be a great fit on LA. He is their prototype forward with scoring/sniper abilities. And his $5.27 million cap hit is not egregious at all for a guy with 30-40 goal potential who is only 27. The only question is does management/ownership want to take on that type of contract, knowing that it is a lot of money to commit to one player over the next 10 years and that it is basically an immovable contract.

Who else do Kings fans want?

Of course there are some other guys I'd rather have, but they're not realistic possibilities. Ideally, I'd love to just sign Parise and keep all of our assets and either continue to develop them or trade them for another top 6 player. But that's not happening.

I'd rather get Bobby Ryan or Rick Nash too, but Anaheim is not trading Ryan in the division (probably not trading him at all) and you'd have to back up the Brinks Truck for Rick Nash in terms of assets and cap space, with his cap hit close to $8 million for the forseeable future. Ales Hemsky is a very nice player but we need more of a scorer/finisher, not a playmaker.

Jeff Carter is the most logical target. It wouldn't deplete the team of all its assets and it wouldn't clog the cap. Big, fast, fairly physical, underrated two way game and most importantly can put the puck in the net better than most.

Bouwmeester is still hated, and it's because he's terrible.

Well it would be nice if guys like Stoll, Richardson, Lewis, Loktionov and Hunter chipped in with a little bit more. All of those guys have lacked production this season. Improvements in the bottom six are definitely possible.

Our bottom six desperately needs help. We had a really strong third line and an okay fourth line last year, so it feels even worse. We're currently using:

Richardson (3G 5P)- Loktionov (4P)- Lewis (2G 3P)
Clifford (4G 10P)- Fraiser (1G 4P)- Westgarth (1G 2P)/Hunter (2G 7P)

The the third line is basically a speedy fourth line and the fourth a grinding type fourth line. I feel bad for Loktionov, because it's obvious he does have some offensive creativity, but there's just nothing there for him playing on that third line. Compared to last year when we had guys like Handzus (12G 30P), Simmonds (14G 30P), and Ponikarovsky (5G 15P) in the bottom six, our bottom six is small on the third line, and both have a fourth line type of identity, with Richards or Kopitar actually get the hard defensive assignments. The third line can't even really be a secondary scoring type line because it's 3 natural centers all with limited goal scoring touch.

If we could get some size and bottom-six-type skill like Moen or Guastad, it would help a lot, IMO.

LA would probably have to add here (More than likely a 1st round pick), add that and I could see this deal happening.
