Horcoff doesn't deserve to play with the Nuge, dude compeletly sucks he's lost out here every shift, it's unacceptable, the other night against the hawks he was -2 in a 8-4 victory how's that even possible,

I'd like to see hallsy-gags-ebs-_Smitty-nuge-hemmer for the top 6.

Hope Lander gets sent down, don't like the mins and lines he's plying on.

Here's hoping Hemsky has a great game auditioning for his potential trade suitors.

yeah we need one of Nuge or Hemsky to shoot the puck because Horcoff is built on hard work not finishing....Eager has wheels and adds toughness to the top 6 marshmallows.

Uh, what? Turris has always been a decent player. Never understood the hate against him.

MPS is not a shooter. He needs to change his game a bit to think "snipe" because we have enough playmakers (although if we trade Hemsky... maybe that could be our weakness in the future).

I'm hoping MPS has a Viktor Stalberg development curve after spending the rest of the year in the AHL. We definitely rushed him.

Seemingly it is written in his contract that he gets top two line minutes, only explanation.

Not a stretch when you consider the fact that this player has wiggled his way into Katz's (and by proxy, Tambellini's/Renney's) extended family.

maybe it's written on his contract that an Oiler staff member trolls Hf boards and whenever an Oiler fan whines about Horcoff in every thread, he gets extra ice time.

with a healthier D, we have a chance this game.
we'll see if the last couple of games has given the Oilers some confidence and drive.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry seeing Horcoff on a line with RNH and Hemsky...

The 2LW spot is open...who could we put there? LW Smyth or craptacular C Teflon Shawn? Shawn of course.

Not that I'm a huge Smyth fan, but Smyth-RNH-Hemsky could actually be a really nice combo.

Not worried about Horc on Nuge's line. He's there to dig, win FOs, and be the first forward back.

I can't believe anybody, let alone Renney, would consider taking Petry out with the way he's been playing. He's been the Oilers' best d-man in 3-4 of their last 5, right when they've been picking it up. Potter would be my choice to sit, EASILY, with Barker next. But Barker played a solid 2 periods against Chicago so I'd go with him to get his legs and confidence under him. If long-time NHL d-man Aaron Ward thinks he can be a top-4 for Edmonton, he's in a better position to judge than I am, so I'll give Barker a bit more slack and look for the positives.

I'd also put Dubey back in. Outside of the first goal, he was stellar against Chicago, who had a LOT of shots on him and a significant number of amazing chances as well. Need to see if he can start another game 2 nights later after facing so many shots and also letting in a softie. Call it a psychological test if you will.

Hoping the Oil can pick up a W in this one. I'm gonna say 4-2 Oil.

I have to agree with most others about sitting Potter tonight. I actually find myself liking Barker. Maybe I'm the only one, but I'd be interested in trying him out again next year if he's willing to come back for the same price. He hasn't been spectacular but we've only seen him for a few games because of the injury.

If Petry is sitting out we seriously need to unload Sutton. imagine he'll get a ton of ice time tonight so that we can boost his value.

I think we've got some of those Wings and Rangers fans running scared these days. They're afraid of the price they might be coughing up to get our boys.... if Edmonton has any interest in trading Smyth, I don't get why they're giving him third line minutes unless they figure a deal is going down any day now... weird.

Cuz team's know exactly what they're getting with Smyth and by now, on a good team, he probably won't get more than 3rd line minutes anyway.

And I'd hope they're looking to unload Peckham over Sutton. First, Peckham probably has more trade value considering age and contract. Secondly, Sutton has been a steady, imposing, and surprisingly effective puck mover on the bottom pairing this year and he seems to exude leadership and team-building qualities. I suppose they could try to re-sign him in the off-season after trading him, but I'd rather him than Peckham on the bottom pairing in the lineup next year.

With regards to the game, I hope Gagner has a new season high in ice time, top PP minutes, and mostly o-zone face-offs. If this kid isn't riding an adrenaline and confidence high, something is wrong with him. Im gonna predict a 2+ point night for Gags.

I'll bet Smyth or Jones will take Horcoffs spot, after 93 sets him up prefectly in the slot and Horcoff hits the end boards 8 feet wide.

I hope if and when Gilbert comes back, Potter is the one that sits. He should be the 7th dman moving forward. Peckham is done son.

yeah eager would be ok, hemsky i think is the best option, once the hall-gagner-eberle line cools off i would put hemsky with hall, eberle with rnh. but for tonight it should be:

hall-gagner-eberle
eager-rnh-hemsky
smyth-horc-jones
Cornet/hordichuck-belanger-petrell

3-2 Oil

Gagner with 9 points, breaking the record previous, hat trick plus first and second assist on every goal. Named only first star.

I agree. Ideally we end the year with this. And if we trade Sutton, Potter draws back in as a regular
Smid - Gilbert
Whitney - Petry
Barker - Sutton
Potter

We can't win them all, but we can put in the effort. Tonight could go either way, if they're giving all they have it'll be a fun game to watch.

Call me crazy, but I would rather see Eager on the second line LW than Horcoff. Actually, I would like to see Eager on that line anyways.

Edit: Oops, just realized that other people had the same idea. I guess I'm not crazy.
