He did go after him but he pussied out and Schenn took over. Good on him, bad on Rinaldo.

There was a whistle for an offside and after a few seconds elapsed it was Zach Parise who actually initiated contact. Not only did he initiate contact on Ronaldo but he lingered there for whatever reason. The score was 6-2, and Ronaldo simply made a 'get away from me kid I'm out of your weightclass' move. Had Ronaldo dropped his gloves and suckerpunched Parise's lights out I would have understood completely. Parise should watch himself next time.

There should be no punishment for Ronaldo on the play.

Dumb and dirty play by Rinaldo. And Schenn has to pay the price in the ensuing melee. Flyer fans and Devil fans should be equally ticked off at this clown.

Wow, someone is actually defending a obvious slewfoot.

I feel that there hasn't been enough commenting on the hilarity of the thread title. It sounds so disjointed and random.

"Parise gets slew foot so Schenn gets beat down"

He did, then Schenn came to the defense of Rinaldo. There was a big scrum and Schenn and Kovy just came out of it and dropped the gloves.

Had he "sucker punched" Parise, it would have been no worse.

A slew foot is a dangerous as it gets. And gutless. There is no justification for it whatsoever.

And Parise needs to "watch himself"?

Rinaldo better watch out for the waiver wire. A fringe player who takes liberties with other teams' stars doesn't typically have a long shelf-life in this league.

I actually liked the Flyer noob for his hitting ability and enthusiasm this season. But call this what it was: dirty.

Nothing says "tough guy" like cheap shots then having your rookie teammate take your licking for you.

I don't like Thornton, but this was funny.

I don't feel as if Rinaldo will be hitting the waiver wire, he's been playing really well lately.

I'd be a little surprised if there isn't any damage to Schenn. It looked to me that Kovy got a tremendous amount behind that punch. And it was pretty much dead on. That really looked damaging.

Kovalchuk is an absolutely lazy Russian with no defense to speak of and is completely selfish.

Except for his SHG today, two assists, and fighting after his captain got "da sleeeeeeeeeewfoot".

Loving Kovy more and more every game.

Small sample size brag

Soaking in this brief comfort, can't wait to be mad after Pittsburgh game tomorrow.

TG: Kovalchuk said when Schenn grabbed him, “I asked him, ‘So, what are you going to do?’ He said, ‘Fight you’ and I said, ‘OK.’”

Exaggeration on my part, in order to make a point - namely that if a 4th line noob takes liberties with another team's star, his fellow pretty boy noob teammate (Schenn) gets his head handed to him in return. And worse.

That's how it works in the NHL. There is a pecking order.

Pete DeBoer felt Rinaldo also tried to hurt Jacob Josefson with a cheap shot. He suggested the league will look at some Rinaldo incidents.
