We own all of our own picks this draft plus Montreal's 5th, NJ will most likely Forfeit their First this year (Kovy Deal this year or next year), SJ has a compensation 2nd rd pick.

Unless we acquire another 2nd I can't see us moving up into the late 1st. I would love to get Maatta or Wilson.

I think this team needs to add some pieces but with the right coach I think this team can be a playoff team next year.

1) Resign PAP as the first line right wing

2) Sign Olli Jokinen at an overpayment for 2-3 years to be the center for Okposo and Bailey

3) I'd offer the 1st round pick, Grabner and Mayfield for Yandle, he is that good. Grabner is in the way of progress, might score 30 goals again but he is going to be very inconsistent. Yandle is one of the best dmen in the game for offensive purposes, Pair him with Hamonic and MacDonald with Streit.

4) Resign Reese for the bottom pairing. Let Donovan and De Haan battle in camp to be his partner.

5) Sign Cam Janssen for 4th line fighting.

6) Sign Brent Johnson to backup Nabokov

Team would look like

Moulson/JT/PAP
Bailey/Jokinen/Okposo
Ullstrom/Nielsen/Martin
Janssen/Reasoner/DiBenedetto

Yandle/Hamonic
Streit/MacDonald
Reese/De Haan or Donovan

Nabokov
B Johnson

  • Olli Jokinen will resign in Calgary. However it's not 100% because Calgary might go into a rebuild.
  • We can get Shea Weber with that package. No team will trade their #1 defenseman for prospects and picks anyway.
  • Resigning Reese is a must. He will be a great 6/7 dman for us.
  • Cam Janssen will resign with New Jersey. He's great for the locker room.
  • Brent Johnson is a decent back up. I doubt he would sign here. Plus we already have a suitable backup.

Coyotes might be the type of team to take a package of picks or prospects....... We can overpay to get Janssen and Johnson, we need Janssen for the locker room and Johnson is a very likeable guy, we do not have a good backup. Montoya is not signed.

One of Poulin or Nilsson would back up Nabby.

No we do not have our own 4th but have BUFs 4th instead from the Ehrhoff deal.

1. PAP is our only option because our GM sucks, so I guess we have to re-sign him
2. Ollli would be a good move, doubt he would sign here after asking for a trade the first time around
3. No way we can get Yandle for that let alone Weber like someone else said. PHX would have zero motivation to do that deal. The 1st does have some solid value but Grabner and Mayfield are not guys you give up a number 1 dman for.
4. Reese is alright if we sign him as a number 7.
5. Would like Janssen or anyone who can fight on line 4.
6. Johnson is over the hill. He is done. Would rather roll with Poulin or Nilsson as the backup or sign someone else.

Yandle is exactly what the Isles need. Coyotes are stacked at that position and Yandle is signed for 4 more years. Coyotes are very weak down the middle, Isles could afford to give up prospect + pick and possibly a roster player. Streit is only getting older and his defense play is getting worse.

I am not saying do not try to trade for Yandle. I was saying this years 1st, Grabner and Mayfield would not be enough. The Isles can afford to give up tons of prospects the problem is like most teams the Coyotes care about winning today not tomorrow . Other than JT we can offer them zero help down the middle and we will not trade JT nor should we. Yandle is also young and has a good contract I highly doubt PHX wants to move him. I also do not think Grabner has any real value, he has a back loaded long contract with almost nothing paid this year and he is not good enough for the 2nd line and has zero ability to play without the puck.

"Sign Olli Jokinen at an overpayment for 2-3 years to be the center for Okposo and Bailey"

Jokinen at best is heartless, no thanks.

I would prefer Kyle Wellwood or Jiri Hudler to Jokinen. Not sure if any of them would be worth signing.

That trade would bring him full circle, back to where he started in San Jose

I'm sorry guys but we are not getting Yandle for picks and prospects. If you don't believe me post it on the main board and see what they say. Maybe they would be open to trading Rundblad or another defensive prospect.

What teams do you know have traded #1 defense? Now what teams have drafted their #1 defenseman or developed undrafted/drafted by another team defensemen into #1 defensemen.?

Compare that to the list of #1's who weren't traded.

Stevens
Niedermayer
Weber
Suter
Yandle
Chara
Keith
Seabrook
Doughty
Pitkanen

Was Dan Boyle traded?

Is starting with our 2012 1st and Strome too much for Yandle?

What if it were something like:

To NYI:

Yandle

To PHX:

2012 1st
Strome
Grabner
And One of Ness or Donovan.

Too much or too little?
