With the next game being in Tampa Bay and nationally televised, I expect another stinker on the horizon. Then again, Tampa has the worst goaltending tandem in the league. If they can't pot more than one goal, so help me God...

Tampa 5 - Kings 4, with Quick letting in two softies.
Do a mini-rebuild at the deadline, get rid of Bernier, Hunter, Richardson, Fraser, Penner, Martinez, Stoll, Scuderi and Mitchell. It'd suck to lose Scuds and Mitchell, but at this point, they're very valuable in a trade. With those pieces we could revamp the lineup quickly imo.

I wouldn't touch the D, that's the one area of the team that is consistent is the performance by the blueline and goaltending. As far as forwards go, the only ones worth keeping are the ones you have listed. Indifferent with Westgarth, Loktionov has the potential to do so much more but if the right deal came along, I'd consider using him as bait.
They need a Moen on the 3rd line (Tootoo and Prust will also be UFAs). This team needs some nastiness from the bottom six, but they also need more speed on the wings who can explode down the side walls with the puck. Even if they aren't blessed goal scorers, they need players willing to drive hard to the net. How many Kings try that?

That XXX looks great on the first line and I always liked XXX. The XXX on second line is my wet dream. Doughty-XXX looks just sick. That's a SC contender right there. Do you think we can really get all of them (not to mention XXX and XXX!) for the players you want to trade away?

Ideally I wouldn't touch the d either but I think to really upgrade the wings, we'd have to dip into the d and prospects might not cut it. I wouldn't be opposed to moving Loktionov in the right deal either.

Let's state the obvious here: The Goaltending has to be better.
Look, we're a 1 goal team. If we're serious about winning games, Quick and Bernier simply has to shut teams out on a more consistent basis. We're not playing just to play. We must play to win.

If Dean is so bent on running this style of hockey. Loki will never pan out for the Kings.
He is not a guy that can win battles in the corners. IF you are going to keep him , Dean needs to get him a winger that can do the board work(Moen)

The forth line has been excellent. Resign Fraser. (It's not like he'd return anything of value in a trade anyways.)
I wouldn't be opposed to that either.

I think it's getting to the point that we either move him for someone who will work in the Kings system, or change the system, and we know that's not happening...
I'm glad I missed the game and did something more resourceful, like go to the gym. It's really not worth having to watch every game anymore like I used to. How many times do we have to sit through and watch this team struggle to mount any bit of offensive pressure or good quality scoring chances.
Now when I see Boston, Detroit, New York, Philadelphia play, I see teams that work hard inside the offensive zone, a lot of movement, creativity, tape-to-tape passes, etc. Those games are fun to watch. Kings games are a God damn bore. Lombardi has assembled a team that has no sense of what to do inside the opposite blueline.
This is what it comes down to. The Kings are simply not enjoyable to watch anymore. I can handle defensive hockey, but it's to the point that as soon as the other team scores a goal, I start watching the game on 2x speed. In the past, I could always believe that the Kings might win the game when they were down by a goal (or even two!), and now it's just clearly out of the question.
Bleh. Almost wished I didn't watch the game after I got home from my own game. After the first period, I was like "this is much better". Then the next two periods: "What the **** is this ****!?!?!?!" lol... The Greene-Martinez pairing could have been better... But what are you going to do? You aren't going to win games scoring 1 goal. Onto the next game...

You aren't going to make the playoffs scoring 1 goal per game.
The last team to make the playoffs while being dead last in offense was the 88-89 Canucks (23 years ago) when only 5 teams in the league missed the playoffs.
