Wow it feels good to watch a healthy clicking team. I knew they weren't as bad as they seemed. Take away your entire top line and 3 top d men on any team and the losses will pile up. This winning thing is fun.
Whitney could be back. He mentioned after the last game that he was feeling great and that's a first for him this year. When he was playing earlier in the season all you ever heard was that his foot was still bothering him.
They don't want him back. If they did, they would have made an offer by now.
Agreed. I love everything Hemsky has done for the Oilers in his career and he is a great person. I think about the team first though and ideally we trade him for a good asset or two. If he wants to stay in Edmonton we can tell him before we trade him that we will re-sign him on July 1st. Makes no sense to keep him when it is clear that teams like LA have been reported to be interested and we can get a couple assets back.
According to Hemsky (through Gregor), they haven't. They (Lee or Weekes, can't remember which) also quoted Hemsky as saying, "I wish they would just tell me if they want me back or not." Leaving Hemsky in the dark like that means they don't want him back to me.
Renney: We don't usually pick 2-goal scorers for the shootout...bbuuuuuttt I'm gonna go with my instincts on this one. Saddle up, Belanger!
To the guy Thurs who said that was the most WTF moment he's ever seen, when I saw Belanger skate to centre ice tonight, that was the most WTF moment I've ever seen. Imagine if Dubnyk doesn't make that save....wow.

And that's frustrating. Hemsky has battled and sacrificed a lot for this team and he deserves more respect than that.

Yeah, and just after reporting that Gregor had Rishaug on his show. He all but called Hemsky a liar for saying that because if Tambo hasn't made an offer then he's not doing his job as GM of the team, which is impossible (according to Rishaug). I almost choked in shock when Rishaug used that argument to make his case.
Hemmer is so 2006, he's old news. Seriously though, I think he will be traded. That shoulder just isn't worth the risk, and he is going to want something long term I'm sure. He needs a change and he's no longer going to be a #1 line player here.

...
Interesting. Rishaug usually has his finger right on the pulse of the team. I don't know what to think now.

I don't know if Hemsky is a liar. Hemsky said they hadn't given him an offer yet. Rishaug said they have had talks to gauge his interest. It can be true that they have had talks without actually giving him an offer.
Renney's decision to throw Belanger out there was a "We don't even need this round, beeitches" message to Detroit. Scared them stupid. Renney's a boss. Or suffering recurring dementia. One of the two.
I thought Renney was nuts with his shootout order. Gagner was obvious, I don't even know if Eberle shot but I don't remember seeing him.
I just don't understand putting Belanger out there, or Hall ahead of RNH when Hall never seems to score on shootouts or penalty shots.
Obviously it worked out, but I'm of the opinion that you put out all your best shooters first. I wonder how many rounds shootouts typically go. Maybe 5 on average? Just put out your best shooters first and if they don't score you hope your depth guys get it done.
Great game for most of the Oilers, terrible game for Belanger.
I cant even count the number of times I watched Belanger in his own zone/blue line blind pass/feed the puck to their defense. Couple of them even led to icings.
As for the shootout I was boggled when he was chosen and not the least bit surprised by what he did. His shot was a good 2 feet wide! He might have the worst shot this team has seen in a very long time. Renney is lucky they won the shootout or people would be all over him for his choice with Belanger there. Hope that was the last time he decides to put a plug like that as his 4th shooter, because that was embarrassing.
nope. I don't think it was really anyone's fault, perhaps a lack of communication. Because the board slowed down right as the game ended and we got all those PGTs, a few of us tried to merge them but I think we chose different destination threads. So I suspect we ended up creating a loop where each thread redirected to another redirected thread.

Rishaug didn't base his case on observation or evidence but rather on the assumption that any good GM would not go this long without making Hemsky an offer.
