Meanwhile, while we go on and on about others? Eberle is sitting 10th overall in the scoring race, and threatens to go higher. Much Higher.
I think he's got a legit shot at the Art Ross. Say what you want but he's got the 4th highest ppg average behind guys like stamkos, malkin, and giroux with games missed due to injury and playing almost 5 fewer minutes then all of them. Not saying it's gonna happen but if renney was to give him more ice time and Malkin or Giroux go down with another injury, he could do it.
If you watch the tying goal from last night. you can see him tap the puck past the goalies pad then tap it in the net. CLUTCH. Calm collective and confident...
Kid always needs to be in the same conversation as Hall and RNH. I think it's possible that in 2 years, we look at the 08 draft, and say between Stamkos, Eberle, Doughty and Pietrangelo, they can go in any order. Those 4 have already separated themselves from the rest of the class.

Erik Karlsson says "Hi"
But I do think that Eberle should get some serious consideration for the Lady Byng trophy this year. 8 minutes in penalties and to be top 10 in scoring it quite the feat
Here's a question: In 2010 it was rumoured the Bruins asked for Eberle+ for the #2 overall pick. Seguin is having a hell of a year and is a bit younger. In hindsight, would you guys do that deal or is Eberle the better player?

Looking back to 2010, Eberle was going to be one of the core players in the rebuild and part of the HOPE for the Oilers franchise. No way you trade that away. You have to develop some internal chemistry and he was going to be a big part of that.
Sure Seguin was likely going to be a great player as well and I'm sure some would have pulled the trigger. The Oilers would be sweet right now likely with Seguin-RNH down the middle but Eberle is a very special player as well and you just don't trade away that type of potential before you know what you have.

It worked out better this way.
We got the better wingers and the better centre.
That and Eberle is outscoring Seguin. Say what you will about +/-, but he plays on a defensive powerhouse like Boston.

I believe Seguin could be a better player than Eberle, but I wouldn't even do that trade straight up. Eberle is Hall's best friend, was an Oilers fan growing up, and has shown time and time again that he belongs here.
He's 6th right now in points per game average in the entire league. Ahead of the likes of Ilya Kovalchuk, Henrik and Daniel Sedin, John Tavares, Lupul and Kessel, Datsyuk, Hossa, Toews, and on and on.
Yeah, this guy will never be a true star 1st liner.
Just his second season. I think he may just be scratching the surface, which is almost scary.

He should definitely be in consideration. He's so smart defensively that he can strip pucks and break up plays without resorting to taking a penalty, much like the Nuge. This kid is something special.
Im most impressed with how his play has evolved. Last year it seemed like he was dependent solely on finesse while making plays. Now he has definitely gotten more powerful, and is starting to play a bit like a powerforward as well. Incredibly hard to stop him.
I've been saying for the last few years that he was going to be our future #1 RWer. He's already proving to be that player, and this is only his 2nd year in the league.

I am not convinced most Kings fans would include Doughty in that list. There was a lot of negativity this summer when he was holding out. Fans were talking a lot about huge holes in his game.
