Personally, I'd keep Eberle, but it's not an easy decision. Centers with upside like Seguin definitely don't grow on trees...

Seguin also leads the whole friggin league in +/-.
Add a SC and an All Star appearance and its not a bad start to his career.

Eberle is a legend already and Seguin has a **** eating grin.

Plus if we had done that trade we wouldn't have the fangasm line of Hall - Nuge - Eberle.

So what you think he would be if playing on the Oilers or any other non playoff team, could playing with Chara and Thomas be padding those stats?

possible... but the next best Bruin is Bergeron with +24.. Thats 7 less then Seguin.
Seguin is also leading his club in goals, game winners, is 2nd in points, and shots taken..

If anything .. he seems to be helping his teammates pad their stats.

Its the other way around last srason Marchand +29 Bergeron+24 Chara +33 and their linemate last year Horton+29 Seguin-4

This Season Bergeron +27 Marchand +24 Chara+ 27 now Horton is off that line he is 0 and Seguin is 33 I find it no coincedence Seguin has improved to +33 while Horton has dropped to even you are giving Seguin way to much credit

Recchi actually played with Bergeron and Marchand last season.

Horton played with Krejci and Lucic for the majority of that season.

I don't have the numbers, I'm just going off memory.

I remember they started off with:

Lucic-Savard-Horton
Recchi-Bergeron-Wheeler
Marchand-Krejci-Ryder

Then ended up as:

Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Recchi-Bergeron-Marchand
Kelly-Peverley-Ryder

at this moment in time and perhaps in perpetuity? Eberle vs Seguin doesn't matter. He's one of ours. Let's keep it that way. We fans deserve it. The only point to this thread is to wave the #14 flag a bit, because I think we get too wrapped up with too many other players. Not that its undeserved, mind you... It just seems funny to me that we got a player whose really having quite the coming out party, and we're kind of ignoring it a little bit.

...let's trade him.
Only way I could accept Edmonton trading him is if Nashville signed Weber to an 8 year 48M dollar extension with the understanding that he'd be moving to Edmonton if he signed that contract.

Even then I'd be heartbroken and our right wing would be in shambles.

Top 10 players in the NHL this year (over 20 games played) in pts scored per 60 minutes during 5 on 5 (even strength) play:

Jordan Eberle 3.60
Brad Marchand 3.14
Evgeni Malkin 3.12
Jamie Benn 3.01
Patrice Bergeron 3.00
Steven Stamkos 2.99
Martin St. Louis 2.95
Tyler Seguin 2.88
Rich Peverley 2.84
Phil Kessel 2.83

Jordan Eberle is starting to go into full beast mode. I don't know if he can keep those types of stats up... but to say the least that's VERY impressive even over half a season.

To put that 3.60 pts per 60 minutes into perspective, in the 10/11 season only Sidney Crosby scored higher @ 3.98 and in the 09/10 season only 3 players scored higher: Daniel Sedin @ 4.04, Henrik Sedin @ 3.96 and Alex Ovechkin @ 3.70

In the 08/09 and 07/08 seasons no player scored that high.

His play could be an aberration and he'll revert to more "normal" levels or we could be simply watching him develop into a full blown superstar before our eyes... only time will tell.

It's only been a season and half, but this seems to be his "normal" level. He doesn't really have good or bad games... He just keeps putting up points, win or lose, even on a bad team. The guy is amazing.

Horcoff sucks. Why is he still the captain? Can we buy him out? Why is he playing so much? I hate him.

Oooops, sorry. So used to all the Horcoff bashing threads on here, I just assumed this was one more, so thought I'd chime in.

Eberle just doesnt score garbage goals. he is a highlight machine.
He always does a toe drag or a sweet deke. He can snipe with the best of them.
He has some of the best hands in the NHL already.

+/- is a team stat, give Eberle Boston's goal differential to work with and Seguin Edmonton's, not to mention goaltending and defense and the numbers would not look so nice for Seguin.

Seguin #2 overall pick playing for the defending stanley cup champs

Eberle #22 overall pick playing for a lottery team whose starting goalie has won 1 game since the 26th of december. (outscoring Seguin as well)

Eberle is solid gold in my books, he is clutch and a joy to watch.

Agreed ^

I would take Eberle 100% of the time. What a great steal at #22, even on draft day they said it was a perfect match. I'm thrilled that it all worked out this early!

This is why you shouldn't give +/- much weight.

He has the chance to match the best regular season by an Oilers forward since the lockout (Hemsky - 77 points in 05/06) and be the first to go a point-per-game since Weight if he can somehow manage 2 points tonight.
