Taylor, you are unable to raise the puck up high in tight. Your backhand went in once and has missed about 600 times. Please just shoot the puck or something?
Ps. I still love you and your stubbly man beard.
MODEDIT: Added some maturity to the title. Otherwise this would have been in the thread graveyard.
On a bit off topic note What about belanger on the shootout but not horcoff? Some of renneys decisions are....*facepalm* worthy. And i guess hall just needs to work on his shootout skill

This is my hierarchy, if I'm Renney
Eberle
RNH
Gagner
Horcoff
Hall
Hemsky
Jones (remember SH breakaway against MTL?)
Smyth
Move up or down 1 or 2 spots if having an amazing game (see Gagner yesterday)
Eberle
Gagner
Hemsky
Horcoff
RNH
Hall
Jones
Sutton
Petry
edit: maybe not as far as I initially thought
Meh, Im not impressed with Hemsky's shootout efforts, but yeah gagner could move up. RNH, I think, is just getting used to the shootout, so he will be able to immensely improve as he does it more. Pretty similar lists though...
I'd actually use dmen in the shootout more often. Guys like Whitney and Potter and Petry would be great change ups and goalies don't know what to expect from them because they don't see them coming in as often.
In a shootout you aren't necessarily looking for your biggest guns to get the goals for you (although it helps if they can)... you are looking to make the goalie have no idea what the shooters are going to do and throw him off.
I'd still have players like Eberle and RNH in there for their obvious talent but I'd throw in at least one of Whitney, Potter, Petry, Sutton, Barker or a forward like Jones who has decent hands... even a Smid once in a while to try and channel some Marek Malik action.
The thing is to keep it fresh and not have Hall with his same move 48 times in a row... or Gagner (who's usually crap on shootouts even though he scored) but of course you put him out there this game when he's ripping up the league the last few games.
Gagner's only bad at shootouts when he doesn't do that move. Luongo was the first goalie to totally read it a couple weeks ago. He got away from it for two years, and stopped scoring.
Hall definitely needs to shoot or come up with a new move.
well it's really not a bush league move, it's a simple move that can be really effective IF you can get the puck up quick.
Unfortunately, that's the only move in his toolbox and he doesn't have the hands to get it high enough fast enough. I'd put Lander in the shootout over him at this point.

The problem is that most of the time he's backhanding it to a goalies glove side. Works for Eberle and Hemsky because they end up going stick side.. aside from just having better hands, I guess.
Hall's a lefty, so he'd be better off doing what Nuge did. Jokinen scores with it every time, too.

Gagner can't do it very well against big goalies because they cover the entire bottom of the net. Gagner also went to the well too many times with the same move and opposing goalies knew the scouting report on him.
As for Hall, a quick wrister would be nice, hell a bomb like the one that Bertuzzi unleashed would be nice as well, that was a howitzer!

Past Jones, it's a full throw in the air, but this is exactly it.
Ebs always first
Gags is bringing his hands back
Hemsky is usually pretty great to keep us in it/put it away
Horcoff's number speak for themselves
RNH is 1/3 in his rookie season, but we all know he can put it in the back of the net
Hall has never been great on the breakaways to be honest, but should slot here
Jones rules on breakaways, potting half as many garbage goals as breakaway ones

I'm still pretty sure Gagner's only been stopped twice doing that move. Last week against Luongo, and actually maybe Luongo again a couple years ago when he stuck his stick out and made a goal line save.
I think guys who are fast but maybe don't have the craziest hands, like Hall; Jones; & Belanger; should opt to skate in fast, get the goalie back pedalling, then pick a hole and shoot. No need to do anything fancy. Goalie comes out far to cut down angle? He has to pedal back uncomfortably fast and is susceptible to a move. Goalie doesn't come out much? You have lots of net to shoot at by the time you hit mid slot.
He needs to just take a shot. He's got a pretty good shot. Just shoot! If you can't get your backhand up in the corner then don't bother trying it when the game is on the line.
