He has clearly shown how much potential he has. He seems to always know the next play to be made before the current one is done. He was banged up and missed training camp and preseason but he has played the past few games and got dinged up again tonight. It's probably just a lingering shoulder injury though. Oh, he also was playing on the top PP unit where he showed his vision and passing and they were impressive. Hope to see him continue progressing.

Too bad he got injured last night. Looked like his hand or shoulder. Any reports?

So, he's left two games early with injury and missed all preseason. Time to rest him for a while?

He never got healthy from his injury in rookie camp. Even missed most of the regular training camp and preseason. The game he did play in preseason, he took a slash on the hand that injured him further. Carolina needs to take a step back and let him get this shoulder figured out. That's not an injury you play with.

Any updates on how he has looked after being sent down to Charlotte? Besides lack of production, were there any other reasons he was sent down?

He had some problems with conditioning after being out for long stretches. He needed some more ice time to really get back into good shape.

So, what caliber player are we talking about here?

Not on Barkov's level, obviously?

He should have stayed in Sweden for another year to be more ready for the NHL. And while Barkov by no means has been bad, he's not exactly lighting it up.
Way too early to tell.

The AHL is a perfect league for him, his team isn't looking too good though.

Well, I really like his gritty skilled dynamic style, Lindholm's. Hoped it would translate immediately to the NHL. I even voted him once in a poll vs. Barkov. But now it looks he has a long way to be Barkov's level of a player. Barkov looks solid - will be a franchise forward, no doubt. Already a #1 C, practically.- Yes, it's Panthers - but still.

Lindholm looked much improved tonight, albeit against a struggling Sens defense. He was confident with the puck, made smart decisions, and as you can see above he scored a pretty nice goal on the PP.

It would seem the AHL had a good effect on him.

This kid can be great, but I hope that Carolina doesn't do what New Jersey did with Josefson.

It seems as though we're taking the same approach with Lindholm as we did with Faulk. It won't be long, if not already, before he realizes the AHL isn't his destiny.

Allowing Lindholm to develop in Sweden and not burning a year of his ELC wouldn't have been a terrible approach either.

Just out of curiosity, how did the Devils try to go about with Josefson's development?

Josefson has had to battle multiple injuries since coming to NA. He hasn't really been able to string a big chunk of games together.

Josefson was an 18 year old NHLer who didn't have an offensive touch. His 2nd year was injury plagued and his third was nothing to gloat about either.

He's played I think 5 games this year doing nothing. Deboer has him in the box night in/night out.

Well if he's not injured I don't think Muller would sit him for no reason. Every game he plays he seems to have looked better and better.

To be clear about my comment above, I don't think the AHL was a "wake up call" or anything like that. The positive effect was likely a matter of playing some big minutes, getting in his groove, and adjusting to the speed and space of the North American game.

Your right.

The drive from Charlotte to Raleigh is only two hours so call ups and send downs aren't considered burdensome. It's very much so a great approach for our European prospects to adjust to the NA style of play and Victor Rask would probably be doing the same if it wasn't for Westgarth wasting a roster spot.

Can't wait to see Rask/Lindholm together.

Not a great first game, which was expected since he hadn't played a game in 2 weeks. Has gotten better every game and had his best game today.
He's a leading player on the team as he should be.
