He was our best player offensively, and our best forward defensively, and you're still down on him.

I know, I KNOW that you want to give him credit. I KNOW that you want to admit how impressed, surprised, and glad you are that you had him wrong. It's ok, we won't hold it against you.

Also, we get it. You hate Gaborik.

Good Defence, nice seing Staal playing with edge and skill
Redden "MSG the place to be" for not being able to admit that Gaborik is good

Gaborik without the puck has been pretty damn excellent almost all season.

No, but we are talking about THIS game. And the comment does not apply.
Quote:
The Rangers have taken some awfully dumb penalties recently. MDZ's delay of game against Buffalo he was under pressure, but Dubinsky literally had all the time in the world, and idiotically shot it out of play. Philly scored and were back in the game. Hagelin's penalty was brutal as well. Clearly Torts agrees, he was fuming on the bench after every call. Stu Bickel's may have been the worst, he blatantly just hits a guy from behind.
The team does not make a habit out of taking dumb penalties. All teams take some bad ones. And as for Bickel, his game is what it is. Not like the Rangers have not been run from behind.
Quote:
But anything involving skill or mental aptitude our forwards fail miserably at. They pass better then nobody, they may not be the worst at faceoffs, but they can't win important ones if their life depended on it, and last but not least, our power play is easily the worst in the league, it's not even a competition. Other teams may not produce as much, but they have a system in place that actually gives their team an advantage on the power play, as opposed to the 2 minute time saver we get.
Not sure you get to the top of the conference by being the dumbest team in hockey. Worse in face offs, worst in passing, worst brain dead penalties......sounds like the team is where they are in spite of themselves. I do not wear blue tinted glasses, but let's try to have a shred of reality set in. Not having a scrab of mental abilities and being the dumbest team in hockey is a little overboard.
Quote:
Maybe Bryz just sucks, but they buried every major scoring chance they had. But without a power play, a clue in the faceoff department, or any semblance of skill, they're making a cup run that much harder.
So we damn them for not winning face offs and not passing properly, but somehow gloss over burying scoring chances?
And NO semblence of skill? Come on now.
Quote:
they need to make it work with the personnel they have now, which is a pretty damn good group of players.
Can't be the Rangers? How does one have a pretty damn good group of player when then have not a srap of mental abilities?
Quote:
Surely they're capable, just as sometimes one of their players decides that instead of dumping it on like an idiot on the power play, they will actually slow down and set up a play. They have the means at their disposable, maybe they forget.
Or maybe the system simply calls to dump the puck in and not turn it over at the blueline? Something anyone that has been a Rangers fan for a while surely cannot forget what it looks like

I don't know how people were saying that Staal was bad.... I thought he had one of his best games since being back. There were a bunch of times that he stood out for me. He made a bunch simple plays to break things up and get it going the other way. The more games he plays in, the better and better hes looking! LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!!

Yep. This was definately Staal's best game of the season. Broke up a few really good scoring chaces in front of Hank, and looked much smoother with the puck.

My point is letting in 2 goals = subpar performance by lundqvist.

Technically it was, because his GAA was lower.

It was in third period. I'd say it was at various points after the Dubi goal.

My god, you'd think we lost this game 5-2 with some of the posts in this thread.

Loved the chant! Feels great to stick it to Flyers fans.

If the Devils were in this same position all you would hear are "Rangers suck" chants around the rock.

Well, you figure if he only plays 6 minutes a night anyway, he might as well do something with those 6 minutes. It's not like spending 16 minutes in the penalty box decreased his ice time.

Bickel did exactly what was needed from him. What's more, even if Eminger comes back on Tuesday, I might very well sit him and dress Bickel again next Saturday.

The minor penalties he took were a point of concern though

Lundqvist was a factor in the win, but I don't think he was as big of a factor as us only allowing 23 shots to get to him.

As far as I can tell, the only stats that we didn't have over the Flyers is power-play conversion and giveaways, and we were tied in giveaways. We had (far) more shots, won more faceoffs, blocked (far) more shots, hit them more, and caused more turnovers. I don't see how this wasn't a dominant performance.

True, but I would say that nights where he gets 3 of them are the exception and not the rule. And the Rinaldo dive did not help matters.
