Even though we won there were mitigating circumstances, namely we played the Jets.

We also got to see why we have some real pieces for the future, not too far from success.

-PK is a beast, controlling the game nearly every shift
-Emelin is what you want that defensive d-man to be; plus he can skate and make simple passes
-Leblanc looks to have real talent and the frame and flashes of real strength to go with it
-The Leblanc-Eller-Palushaj line looked really good for 3 kids
-DD's line
-Price of course
-confident game by Plecks; very good, active, buzzing game by AK

When you think we'll have Gionta & White back; a high draft choice; clear away some cap room with Gomez; maybe (but not really counting on it) Markov [question: if he retires does his cap hit count? What's the age limit on that?]; Gorges to fill that 2nd-pairing; one of Weber / Diaz; somehow send Kaberle on a one-way trip to Bolivia; there is a bit of a rainbow on the horizon. Lots of work to do, but there is promise.

Oh, coaching / GM change too.

Happy Birthday Scott, nearly had one there you though eh?

If Markov retires, his cap hit disappears; it is not a 35+ contract.

However this will never happen because retiring also means he doesn't get paid, and who would leave over 11 million sitting on the table.

One thing he could do is if he decides he will never be healthy is just let the Habs leave him on LTIR like the Bruins have done with Savard.

Really like the way Max is progressing. He looks like he could develop into quite the scorer. Pleks played a great game and thumbs up to Price on getting the SO.

You know what... 3 really good saves and we coasted threw the third. Saves that Carey usually have trouble to make.

Good job today Carey keep up the good work.

I really liked both Patches' and Leblanc's games today.

Patches is really getting the edge back that he had pre-Chara incident. Before that incident it felt like he was turning nothing plays into breakaways literally every game. Then he had that set-back with the suspension and had a good 20 game long pout over it. But he'll definitely get the 30 goals that I predicted for him this year. Historically the only thing that has stopped him when he gets going on these 0.5+gpg streaks is either a near death experience or a multiple game suspension.

As for Leblanc, it looks like some pretty big props are going to have to be levied towards Trevor Timmins for this one. Louis needs this summer in order to get bigger, faster, and stronger. But when he does: look the **** out. He's too smart, too competitive, and has too many raw skills at his disposal to not be an effective player at this level. He already is an effective player at this level.

The thing that has me excited about him is that that kind of player normally has some sort of fundamentally low limit in his skill-set: take for example Plekanec. Pleky is an elite #2 center, and "right there" as a number 1. A 1.5 if you will. However, he really has a fundamental limit when it comes to his stick-handling and shooting(they're just not good at all). Louis does not have this problem. His shot, his stick handling, his skating are all very good. He's definitely one of the players that I'm most excited to watch next year with the big club.

Such erratic results.

Tells me that the team has talent and can compete given a proper coach. Kinda like how St-Louis did a complete 180 since Hitchcock's arrival.

I maintain we're not as bad as our record but RC can coach us into a high pick. Still, I'm not confident we can grab one of Yakupov or Grigs.

Wow Emelin had like 4 solids hits and another 3 or 4 decent hits. I wish he would get some PP time he would surprise lots of people on this board.

that goal was markov-esque. gave me shivers n whatnot....

also, how about that desperation glove save by price? actually, it was 2 in a row. almost gave me a heart attack watching this.

subban dominated the ice last night the way he used to at the end last year. palushaj was a pleasant surprise. im still not convinced about his future with the habs, but im happy to see him do well. leblanc (or lebunk) was awsome, so was lars, desharnais, pleky was awake, emelin was still destroying everybody while giving me a glimpse or two of markov, price was great. it a good day in habs land

im still up for the tank, but im glad i stayed up until 6 am to watch this game. good times.

no no more winning now you hear?

What the heck are the Habs doing winning this game. Three pages of PGT. Lots of sad people.

I wouldn't say develop into. I'd say is right now. His ES goalscoring and shot production is nuts this year, like top 10-15 in the league. The powerplay is its own issue and probably outside of his control, especially playing him on the half wall instead of the goal mouth were he belongs (and dominated last year).

Although with his development not entirely complete, I'm pretty optimistic about him becoming one of the top 10 LW in the league during his prime. You could make an argument about him being in the top 20 already.

Sorry we couldn't help out with your tank efforts.

We are pretty bad on the road and for some reason decided to stop scoring more then one goal a game.

Wheeler is complaining about the way Subban went about starting the fight they had and it's not the first time this happens. Subban better start following the code or he'll never be respected by opponents (or teamates for that matter).

Really?

The guy that went after little Weber after a whistle? Then the dangles his gloves in from to Subban.... and he is complaining?

He should keep his tail between his legs and be on his merry way after been shown up by Subban, 3 inches shorter and around 20 lbs lighter.

To be fair to Subban, Wheeler was the one who asked to drop them. He should have been ready. On the replay PK accepts the fight by going to remove his helmet strap but Wheeler just continued to wiggle the gloves. He wanted to have the fight start off like the one he had with Marchand but it ended up another Lupul fight

Unless you wake up as an opponent and realize that Subban is a terrible fighter who never wants to fight and the only way he'll do it is by jumping you that way or starting a fight while being real close to each other. Subban has NO code 'cause he doesn't want to fight. And asking Subban to have a code is asking him to be killed each and everytime.

By the way, he's already not respected by a whole lot based on his yapping and not backing it up. What Subban has to do is not to start fighting correctly. It's to stop the yapping. 'Cause frankly, I wouldn't be against somebody "correcting" him so it could shut him up and he would then concentrate in playing hockey and hitting hard.

Same old crap, Subban can't do anything right. Can't please everyone. You still have to complain about something. Look, if he doesn't fight then he's not "backing it up". If and when he does fight (despite being a below-average fighter and way too important to the team to sit in the box for 5 minutes) the trolls are giving him grief for "not fighting properly" and "not going by the code". Are we still whining about this "code" BS?

Look, some angry due that's miles bigger than Subban initiates a fight and wants to drop the gloves 'cuz he's angry about a hit that ruined a potential scoring chance. Fine, so drop the gloves and get at it, but no, he's got to do the glove dangling for a while. Subban accepts, drops the mits, starts filling the guy in.

What the hell is the problem here?

Of all the things to criticize about Subban, you guys are really stretching on this one. Let the guy play hockey. Let him yap too, it's obviously effective as you want everyone on the other team to hate the guy.

But wanting someone to "correct" him, presumably by injuring Subban? You want the guy hurt? Are you for serious? Think a fight loss will make him stop yapping? Really? You need help.

Our powerplay has been such a joke and Emelin looked decent in the one game he got some PP time, Campoli is garbage on the powerplay and won't be here next year so don't see why Emelin can't get some time on it.

Patrick Roy wouldn't have thrown games as a player. Why is he talking this way now?
Hope not
Maybe Gallagher/Avtsin
