Until someone can prove to be a better PP option, you cant remove Potter from the 1st unit PP the way it operates.

To me it makes more sense to take Potter out of the lineup. He is redundant with Whitney, Gilbert and Barker all healthy and can easily be replaced on the power play by Gilbert (it didn't miss a beat when Potter was hurt).

Toronto is not that physical, so Sutton's presence is not as important.

It's not a big deal IMO, whatevs Renny, whatever.

I smell a trade! Edmonton is keeping him out of the line-up to make sure he doesn't jeopardize the trade by getting suspended again.

I hope Edmonton doesn't let up offensively. Just shove that puck down their throats. Now that we're healthy I'm pretty sure we can outscore the hell out of them playing the run'n gun hockey we all love.

Yeah Toronto is a bit of a soft team when I watch them play.

I hope the Oilers keep up the firewagon hockey. I would love to see them shut up Leaf fans again like last year in their barn.

Good to see Gilbert back. Some people on here don't like him but he's been missed big time.

It operates in spite of Potter not because of him IMO.

You might be onto something, that would make sense. Sutton I'm sure is garnering all kinds of interest around the league.

I agree with the run and gun style. Who are we kidding our D is brutal and our G is mediocre. If we're going to be successful, it's going to be by winning games by scoring 5+ goals

not saying Horcoff is better or has been playing better. Horcoff has been put on the ice too much and in situations he's been failing at. I don't deny it.

There has been so much horcoff bashing I figured I should keep up with my Hemsky bashing to be fair.
for years we've read about what a huge talent Hemsky is and would finnally become the star he deserves to be, once he had any good teammates.
well, he has them.
39 games, 4 goals, 18 assists for 22 points with a -11 and a 6% shooting percentage, and he's often played like he hates it here and doesn't care about the game of hockey. thats pretty sad, really.

anyway,
good to see gilbert back and hope the Oilers fight hard. going to be a big challenge for them tonight.

I think that makes Sutton's presence even more important.

Have you seen what happens to a soft team (like the Oilers, for example) when they play a physical team?

Do you mind letting me know your source of tickets for tonight's game? I am in Toronto as well, and been trying to get tickets, without resorting to the scalper route.

Other than being made to look like a pylon by Bertuzzi, I've liked Suttons play lately. However with that said being a HS for a night is a good for a guy like Sutton.

The man is 37, he needs a break before he gets suspended and is rewarded one by Shanny.

@OilerTyler
Yeah, but our strategy is not to play Toronto physically; we dont have the personnel to do that. I think we'll stick to what we've been doing against chicago and detroit. Sutton was not really a part of that besides some nice dangles in the first game. He was more a product of the kid's scoring, and Potter is no worse at that.

Horcoff sucks at center but he's even worse on the wing and i would rather him be worse on the 3rd line than on the 2nd line playing 20+ minutes a night.
He doesn't even play solid defense anymore so what's the point?
In my post above I already said how unhappy I was with having Horc on the wing on the 2nd line. It was a sarcastic reasoning.

Nothing at all. Just be nice to experiment. He has the defensive responsibility down like Horc and he can't be much worse offensively can he?

Sutton is for sure a goner at the deadline if they sit him out this game.

Ticketmaster or you if you can go to the box office at the Air Canada Centre, they're selling singles, but go fast cuz i think tickets are gone FAST!

And yea, don't go scalpers, they charge ridiculously over inflated prices.

I paid $165 (face value) for my seats in the reds (100 levels) and in StubHubs, they're selling greens for over $170.

I thought Barker looked pretty good on the powerplay last game, and I liked the nastiness he showed, but with Gilbert back, he's the guy I'd move to the pressbox. Of course, we have enough guys who we shouldn't feel bad about sitting, including Sutton. Just because a guy dangles once or twice, it doesn't mean he's had a good game.

Keeping Potter at least allows us to have 3 RHD and 3 LHD on the roster.

That said, I'm actually comfortable with him starting tonight. He's let in some soft goals, but for every softie he's let in, he's made 10 saves on solid scoring chances. Kid's playing damn good right now

Eh?

The PP runs through RNH and the main play it to Potter for the one-timer. Potter, Gilbert, and Petry are your RH options. Potter's shot is better and he walks the line and distributes better from the point then either of the two right now.

IMO, the level of importance in that first units falls like so: RNH > Potter = Eberle > Hall > Horcoff
