Our mods...

Hey man... don't get me wrong I love em, they have a thankless job for the most part but this board is what it is because of their work and I respect what they do to allow us all to have a relatively troll free space to talk Canucks.

BUT!

I have, more than 3 times in the past few months, been replying to posts in a given thread only to have that post vanish after I post it because that thread has been moved...

Holy crap it's frustrating.

Is there any way that a post that is in the process of being typed can somehow NOT be eradicated because that thread has been moved? Is this possible?

Again... thanks for everything you do you frickin' trigger happy post shifters!

The short answer is no. But do what I do when I make longer posts - use a notepad. Then your post isn't lost.

This thread will expire shortly.

Our mods don't get enough credit for they job they do, IMO.

People need to realize they don't make the rules around here, they just enforce them. I don't know much about modding, but I assume they don't get any if much income out of the deal.

They do a great job, and only for the greater good of the HF community. I say, take a bow mods. You do such a good job and get so little credit and don't ask for any recognition for doing so.

This board is over modded to the extreme.

This type of stuff happens as a byproduct. When you give someone role power they feel like they need to exert whenever they can.

It's epidemic in the work place.

Not really. This place is overmodded (HF in general, but I think the Canucks mod are pretty lax IMO and let people know when they delete posts) because users get very, very sensitive and start reporting even the slightest slant against their team of choice.

I can only imagine the kind of **** mods have to shift through in their PM inboxes day in and out.

And that's why threads like this are usually not a good idea. I delete that and I reinforce the opinion. I allow it and I'm allowing something that borders on mod abuse.

Yes HFBoards is heavily moderated. It is also a very popular and large forum nearing (or maybe passed by now) 100,000 members. Success is difficult to argue with.

May I recommend Lazarus: Form Recovery (Chrome/Firefox). It autosaves everything you type and recovering your post is a right click away.

What the hell? So I should take it less seriously and as a result do a poorer job?

I take it as seriously as it needs to be taken. All mods do. If they don't they don't last long. You should actually be thankful for that.

We have the best group of mods I have ever been around, they are so good! you know how you know they're good? because they are just like everyone else and don't act all high and mighty and don't abuse their power. They are great and they are the reason this section is awesome!

If I were a single female I would totally date one or more of our single male mods that's how great they are.

I think the average user gets the feeling from mods that they like their role power and overexert it because they are a mod.

I appreciate that forums are tidy, I appreciate that people who are idiots generally are gotten rid of (there is always the ignore button). Again, in my humble opinion sometimes it feels like a post is deleted or moved as a make-work project for a mod so that he can move a post or delete it because it someone whined for no good reason.

This is what I mean by "too seriously".

I wouldn't concern yourself with that. We've always got you to put us back in our place.

This thread is providing nothing useful about anything anymore. xtr3m provided an answer for petri.

edit: just wanted to add that threads about moderators are almost always discouraged; be they negative or positive. We prefer that you PM us with either criticisms or compliments rather than create threads.

Thanks
