Shh, don't tell them that.

Though seriously the problem is most apparent on the PK, where Gill's ability to fall down in front of the net can make a difference.

Edmonton gives Andy Sutton a $1.5 million after he was a healthy-scratch twice last week (with that defense corps). One of the reasons Tambellini gave in his press conference was "he likes the direction of the team". The same reason was given when Belanger got 3 years on his contract last summer. What a hilariously inept franchise that is.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Hal Gill land a 3-year contract from Edmonton if in the summer he calls up their management and says he likes where the team is going

Who do we want to win on Tuesday?

Tampa Bay or Ottawa?

A Tampa win is good for both the tankers and beleivers. A win-win situation.

Tank games to watch tonight:

Devils - Sabres
Senators - Lightning
Islanders - Jets
Ducks - Wild

I do not see us "passing" Edmonton or Columbus, so those are pretty much of no relevance to us.

Didn't he start the year on a ridiculous pace or something?
I remember Don Cherry singing his praises, calling himself a genius again, but he hasn't mentioned his name since he started to cool off. Still a good year considering he nearly matched his AHL point total from last season.

my predictions;

Sabres L
Lightning W (been playing good lately, and Senators are 2-6-2 in their last 10)
Islanders W
Ducks W(Minnesota keeps on falling, plus the Ducks are 6-2-2 in last 10)

Hopefully the Sabres can prove me wrong!

For a guy with 10 points who isn't overly physical or tough that's a pretty hefty cap hit. Not a horrible contract but not great either.

Funny. People here who have a tough time criticizing PG (who hasn't won anything) are very quick to pan Chiarelli.

Hilarious.

Chiarelli has done an amazing job with the cap in Boston, but this one he overpaid about 600 000 per year. I wouldn't have given him more then 2.75 per year but that's why it's not my job

No offense, but Johnny Boychuk's kind of like their Gorges. Play on the PK, doesn't make a lot of mistakes, blocks shots...

At least they gave him good term. That Gorges deal will look awful if he starts breaking down halfway through.

He has a better shot and can fight though.

Good post. This was exactly the reason why i did not like the Gorges signing - like you mentioned, he will probably break down halfway through it.

So let's see, Boston managed to sign a guy that, by all accounts, is the same as Gorges, for 3 less years and more than half a million less per year against the cap. Gauthier

Go on the mainboards (where habs hating is rampant) and ask people if they're rather have boychuck or gorges. Gorges >> Boychuck.

Not sure where you get that he is "same as Gorges". Boychuk has 92 blocked shots, plays 20:30 a game and Gorges plays 22:30 and has 162 blocks.

I guess Gill is the same as Chara just a bit bigger and a lot cheaper.

#bluejackets GM Howson was given a list of #NHL teams Rick Nash would potentially lift his n/m clause to go. Believed 2 be a very short list

How will he probably break down? He'll be 30 years old halfway through the contract. Rob Scuderi signed a contract when he was 30 with the Kings, he's the same type of defenseman and same size as Gorges and is still playing over 20 minutes a night.
