Still think there's nothing wrong with stewart as a pick up. Too late now obviously but 900k for one more year after this one, not that bad. If anything, it's depth, big deal.

still a chance that habs (or some other team) tries to trade for him...
perhaps with the impending deadline, habs didn't want to take on another contract without moving one the other way (to keep contract # flexibility for potential moves in the next 2 weeks).
a swap of Noke-Stewart wouldn't be a bad move, gives us ~30 games to see if Stewart has a spot in our bottom-6 next year, if not, he'd be a decent addition to our AHL squad for next year, giving the dogs a big/physical "veteran" player that can produce (with so many pro rookies likely to start the year in hamilton next year, wouldn't be bad to add a guy that could be relied on both for scoring & for sticking up for the young kids... basically an upgrade on Willsie).

If we need depth there will be better options in the offseason, no reason to jump on the first thing we see. We also should be giving the youngsters more time to see how ready they are.
I was expecting a bit more offense from Bourque. He is not impressing me so far.

28 other teams passed on him too.

I expected worse as I knew that he was a bit of a floater every other game. So far he hasn't floated. Always involved in the forecheck and neutral zone.
If you look at the CBC video on hockeyfight, they actually both shook their hands asking to drop the gloves, then Subban dropped them and went at him.
If you are not ready to fight, don't pretend like you want to. As soon as you ask, you should be ready for anything. It's not like Subban started skating away and then jumped him... Starts @ 1:00
Is this a joke Subban didn't even throw a punch until Wheeler had his own gloves off. What a wiener whiner that Wheeler is.
LOL Wheeler took forever to drop his stick and mitts. He shook them for a good 3 seconds and he didn't drop them. If (LET'S JUST SAY) his gloves got stuck, at least drop the stick.

Four points in nine games isn't bad at all imho. While a boost in effort is expected from a player that was just traded he also has to adapt to his new teammates, system and all of that on a terrible, terrible team.
He's at a (approx) 20g 20a 40pts pace. Not bad at all on this offensively challenged team..

Since he is a lot cheaper cap wise than Cammy it's not bad at all plus he has been good defensively.
I went to go get my computer fixed at the mac store in Nashville (where I live now) I was waiting for my turn at the genius bar for my computer to get checked out. While waiting I was surfing HFboards killing time.
I realized i was standing in someones way who was trying to check out the headphones. When I looked up I did a double take. It was Maxime Lapierre.
He was pretty cool, nice guy. Introduced myself as a hardcore Habs fan. He just mentioned how all teams go on a cycle and it was time to clean house and bring in some youth and an early pick for the Habs.
He isn't that big, really nice, and believe it or not a lot better looking in real life. Not in a gay way, it's just on TV he looks a lot creepier and face like a foot syndrome.

Anyways thought it was cool to mention.
Thanks for the story. I also met him once and he is a pretty cool down to earth guy. So he is a tank fan? Geez, you didn't have to bring something else for some people in here to hate him more....
Frans Nielsen re-signs with the Islanders. 4 years, $2.75m/year.
One of the guys I really wanted the Habs to sign this summer if he were available. Would have been a nice fit for a coach deciding to go with the Vancouver/Chicago zone-matching.

I prefer Paranteau. They need to sign him, I'd like to see him here
