We have piles of better prospects waiting for a shot, we don't need to start scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Carolina rejects are serving us so well already

I don't know ; that Stewart guy seem to have some weird vibe about him. Why would Carolina dump a 900k grinder with the little depth they have.

In theory, he seems like a fit and I remember people wanting him in the offseason. But something's fishy ; I say pass.

Some blogger was suggesting on twitter that though less known, Andrew Murray might actually be the most interresting player waived today. Have no idea who he is, but being a SJ reject seems less shameful...

Just going by stats, Murray's good sized, but seems like uber soft...

ANYBODY would be an upgrade over Darche. If Stewart is willing to throw a body check and can stick handle around 1 person, then he's 1000 times better than "Granite Hands Darche"

Gawd....I noticed that he played 20 minutes Sunday against the Jets and he still looked worse than LeBlanc and Palushaj. Why oh why does he keep getting icetime???

I like the idea of picking up Hamil just to troll the Bruins (even though they couldn't care less about a failure pick since they're thinking about winning their 2nd Cup)

But then yeah, Stewart is an upgrade over Blunden and since we're about to trade Moen for draft picks, it would make sense to claim him.

Build this team 1 Stewart at a time. First Anthony on waiver, then Chris via trade, then Brad via free agency.

Then, bring back that ****ing cup.

I'd take Hamil, he's at least a centre prospect.

Come on, theres got to be a reason the freakin Hurricanes don't even want Stewart at a bargain. I can't say ive watched any Canes games but there has to be an issue with him. And I read somewhere Darche had more hits than Stewart. Canes fans sais he doesn't use his body very often. Soooo no.

Winnipeg released Stewart's rights after he was coming off a 40 point season. He's got a pretty well known attitude problem.

Stewart would not be a good fit. His intensity goes in spurts, as does his passion for body contact...too often hesitant to wreak havoc and punish opponents with his stick, strongly constructed frame. Anyway Columbus will take Stewart in front of us.

I know we're at the bottom of the barrel but we can do better than Stewart, plain and simple. We have enough fringe NHLers as it is.

I'm still not understanding the want for A.Stewart (and JF Jacques) which has been going on for a while now. They aren't NHLers IMO.

I think Jacques would be a good energy/role player that would instill some fear. He hits like a truck and isn't above being a little cheap. He certainly couldn't hurt against the tougher teams.

One is 6'3'' 230 lbs and the other is a former first round pick = we need to pick them up. Do people even watch other team's play? Both are horrible and not NHL calibre.

I hate Darche and I'd still rather have him over Stewart, our team isn't going anywhere this year so I'd rather have a guy who works his ass off and sets a good example for our young guys than a lazy plug who has zero heart.

I would take Stewart and Hamill for sure, Hamill is a potential top nine center and Stewart is a Montreal born forward with size and toughness.

Next season:

Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Bourque - Plekanec - Gionta
Leblanc - Eller - Hamill
UFA - White - Stewart

Markov - Emelin
Gorges - Subban
Kaberle - UFA

Price
Budaj

Trade Moen, Kostitsyn, Gill, Campoli and Weber for prospects and picks.

Draft Grigorenko and let him develop into the top line centre of the future.

Win the cup within 5 years!!!

There will be a few players moving out of town so I don't think we should worry much about the contracts situations

but he has no size and wouldn't be an upgrade over Eller and Desharnais. I honestly don't think he is an upgrade over Nokaleinen

Probably because he works his butt off every shift unlike some that take periods and games off.

Everybody loves to say anybody would be an upgrade over Darche well when guys like Stewart are not scoring they are useless. He doesn't use his size, not very good defensively and not a PK guy. Darche works his tail off, is reliable defensively and is good on PK. Usually he brings a bit more offense but to say he is useless is showing a big lack of hockey knowledge. That being said if we can get a pick for him(5th or 6th) I would take it.
