Ok this pisses me off. Two ****ing players show up to play on Sunday in Wheeler and Machacek. Machacek is a young guy gets a real chance to play, goes balls to wall, makes some plays, throws some hits, and it arguably the best Jets player. His reward. A ****ing flight back to St. John's. Meanwhile guys like AARON GAGNON is still in the lineup, who has done **** all, is a slow grinder who is neither big nor strong and has played every game with 0 passion. Completely useless. Way to reward hard work, and nice message to the team. ****ing hell.

I will offer a full apology if this is incorrect, but I doubt it. Just awful.
I agree Holden. I thought Mahacek should have had a shot at the beginning of the season, and he defiantly showed some heart and some hustle in the Montreal game. It was easy to see, because he was almost the only one doing it out there.
I hope they gave him some encouragement, and told him that he's going to be back right away if he shows hustle like that. Otherwise, how demotivating is that?
What is wack is Gagnon is on a 2 year contract according to capgeek. Like a one year stop gap? OK. Two years? Why??
Worse part is Gagnon has a one-way deal next year. Knowing the penny pinching Jets, he will likely be a full-time roster player. He is, by a LARGE margin, the worst player to put on Jets 2.0 jersey so far.
But this is not even about Gagnon. Machacek was clearly, CLEARLY, the hardest working Jet, and the about the only one who even bothered to show up or give a damn in MTL (Wheels showed some emotion as well). I mean, what kind of ****ed up message is that, esspecially to the young guys trying to crack the roster or move up in the lineup (ie Burmi). Nope, work ethic and playing well does not matter in the slightest. Contracts, experience and being buddy buddy with the organization are the only thing that matter. Why should anybody work hard, if they are not going to be rewarded for it. This is complete ********. This is about Machacek, but moreso about the whole attitude of the organization. They are not rewarding the best/hardest working players, they are rewarding veterans and friends of the organization. I don't give a **** who Noel's buddies are, I want the best HOCKEY TEAM on the ice. Starting to piss me right off.

And the second year is a one-way. My guess is there that they weren't planning on retaining Stapleton, and had some confidence in Gagnon for the 13th forward gig. It's a very odd one though.

I've been saying this for a long time, it doesn't matter who the hardest working player is or anything like that which is pretty damn ****** for a team that has a lot of young prospects. Which is also probably the reason we see Burmistrov get so rattled during games.
Hopefully Rad Jets Guy will be at the game cheering them on....
As an aside, I never really noticed or paid much attention to the guy beside Rad Jets Guy before; he seems to be doing a turkey call, or some sort of other avian impersonation.

I had two tickets to the game tonight and gave them away on Monday. I was so furious on Sunday that I came close to ruining an amazing moment where we were all outside at a friend’s rink in plus degree weather and my 3 year old son had skates on for the first time in his life. Shattering this perfect Norman Rockwell/Tim Horton's Canadian moment was the Jets game playing in the background on the radio and I was getting so f#$@*& furious that I had to talk them into turning it off so I could have fun.
Ergo my self imposed "time out" for the game this evening. Based on the New Years Eve game intensity (where we really dished it out) I don't think I am mentally up for losing to a group of taunting leafs fans (who owe us one) like I witnesses in Ottawa this past weekend (WOW on that home game for Toronto in Ottawa)…………..for the record I am not a leaf hater at all but do marvel (not being sarcastic) at their delusional spirit given their Chicago cub type level of futility. OK I know any organization can have an off “HALF CENTURY” but usually they take to laughing at themselves a bit more than Leaf fans…….GOD love em?? and I do know I live in Winnipeg so glass houses but still
As best as I can tell Wheeler and I take losing worse than anyone else in Winnipeg and unlike TNSE and their apparent treatment of Machacek I believe in consequences for actions (good and bad)....due to my actions this past Sunday I am benched for tonight and will only watch the PVR'd version of the game if I am up for it after swimming.

Coach has his favourites. Doesn't make any difference how they play or don't play, they are the ones that get the ice time. Doesn't know how to use his lineup. He's nothing but a confidence buster.
Hoping for a good game. I've been hoping that the Jets would return to Winnipeg ever since I was a child. It's awesome to see a team back in the Peg. Always gonna be special to watch. I even own an old Howerchuck jersey.
Hope for a good game guys. Don't understand the hate of Leafs fans by a couple people here though.
