Rules of every HF CBJ thread:

1) Topic somehow relates to how poor current management is.
2) Topic somehow relates to how awesome former (or missed-out) CBJ'ers are.
3) DSL posts only semi-related YT link.

And it goes back to that coin flip in 2000 for the higher entry draft pick.

There's also a video clip that I've seen, and I really wish I could remember where it was, that had Mike Milbury and a couple of the higher-ups with Atlanta before the 2000 draft. It was about an hour before the draft started, but Milbury went up to the Atlanta guys and said something like, "Just so you know, we're trading Luongo and drafting Dipietro" and walked away. The Atlanta guys looked at each other and one said, "Well, looks like we're not taking Klesla after all."

It stands to reason that, had the Islanders kept Luongo and drafted Heatley, with Atlanta drafting Klesla, that Minnesota (with two journeyman goalies and no prospects at that point) would have taken Dipietro. That would have left Gaborik to come to Columbus. Then imagine Nash joining him in 2002.

Or we can look at last year, with Couturier falling to #8...I don't think anyone expected that to happen. Does the Carter trade look better or worse if it were Voracek and Scheifele, or Voracek and Hamilton, or Voracek and Siemens, or Voracek and Brodin? Does Philadelphia get past Pittsburgh in the first place if Couturier doesn't fall?

"You're wrong and you suck."
"Why?"
"Because you suck."

Sometimes it's necessary to elaborate.

I knew that I was incompatible with Twitter the first time that I put together a thought and hit "submit", and it came back with "Error: your message is greater than the 140-character limit. Please remove 12,781 characters and try again."

I'm an old bio/chemistry major, boil it down... in fact, I often try to say the most in a few words for the fun of it.. I fail often, whatever, it's fun.

Would Nash have developed differently with a more pure scorer in Gaborik? Its been said that Nash is a decent passer, maybe he develops more into a true Power Forward-esque role if this happens? Maybe Nash isn't drafted by us because we aren't in a position to take him in '02 if this happens?

The Sporting News had an interesting article about 10 years ago on something like "the biggest what-ifs in history"...things like what the NBA would look like if Portland had drafted Michael Jordan instead of Sam Bowie, what if Willie Mays hadn't caught Wertz's drive to deep center, and so on. There were interesting outcomes that they had for everything, but the analysis wasn't great.

I think the CBJ questions we can come up with will be more fun when the team is successful; right now it's just depressing.

Hey Adam, I have a potential deal between the Oilers and Blue Jackets that could work out for both teams. The Blue Jackets trade the second overall pick and Ryan Johansen to the Oilers for the first overall pick and maybe another player to sweeten the deal.

At least Proteau had the good grace to say it was a bad idea. But still. They. Just. Don't. ****ing. STOP.

She's wearing a Coyotes shirt, and just saw a two-minute video of nothing but Klesla close-ups.

Any rumor involving the KHL is like Toronto with me. I believe it when it actually happens.

Agreed. Even more sad than the fact that either I wasn't at this game or was in the beer line, which is the first sad thing I thought of when seeing it.
