So I was watching Sportsnet "Hockey Central Hockey Trade Deadline Preview" and they were asking some of the panels about past trades/non trades. One of guys is Doug Maclean. Now this was news to me, not sure if you guys already knew. He said when Zherdev was holding out, Dallas phoned and offered Brenden Morrow for Zherdev. He told the Armstrong, "let me think about it/talk to ownership(as Zherdev was coming off a 25 goal season or something like that/Morrow was also a RFA and was asking for decent amount of money)". Ownership gaved the thumbs up so Maclean phoned back Armstrong and said "lets do the deal". Armstrong reply was, "sorry, trade is off, we just signed Morrow to a new deal". Maclean said he was heart broken when he heard that news. Would Zherdev for Morrow been a better trade then the trade with teh Rangers?

I think so, but I'm not a Tyutin hater so I don't mind what we got for Nik. Morrow is the type of guy who brings it every night and is a great captain.
Thought you guys might appreciate this. Scene is from Casablanca, dialog below the picture.
Rick: "I'm saying it because it's true. Inside of us, we both know you belong with Victor. You're part of his work, the thing that keeps him going. If that plane leaves the ground and you're not with him, you'll regret it. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life."
So...
Rick = Rick Nash
Victor = Mike Richards
Ilsa = Jeff Carter
Hearing from various folks that the banners are being switched out for the Arnold Classic.
That's what I was going to say. They will be back up in a week.

Don't think it is a city / fan issue at all. Blue Jackets fans are more loyal then a large number of fan bases considering they have been run so poorly the last 10 years. I actually consider them a success, like someone said around 14,500 a game is a very respectable number considering the poor management and virtually no success.
The strength of the post-deadline Blue Jackets is on the blue line. The addition of Jack Johnson has beefed up the defensive corps, although his arrival has coincided with a dip in the play of new partner James Wisniewksi. Wisniewski has a leg injury and did not skate this morning and will be a game time decision on Thursday in Colorado.

“We’re stronger on defense,” general manager Scott Howson said. “We lost Marc (Methot, to a broken jaw) but we’re stronger. We don’t have as much skill with Jeff and Antoine gone from up front. We’re going to have to be smart and responsible and make sure we manage the puck well.”
Have I gone through the looking glass? Did anyone else see an improved blueline last night? I will agree that the forwards are weakened by the recent moves, but that is still nothing close to a competent NHL defense the Jackets are putting on the ice!
Disagree. I think this team has real potential on defense. Tyutin and Nikitin are a great pair, JJ is obviously great, and Moore is learning every game. This D could be damn good next season, I really don't put any stock into how this season plays out, because like JJ said in post game last night, it's hard to get it back this late in the season when things have spiraled. This team just doesn't have the "mojo" this year, and that isn't going to change this season because of the way things have gone this year.
If Moore continues to develop we are going to have a great defense going forward. Moore and JJ as the top pairing, again if Moore continues to develop, is a true legit #1 pairing with two #1 or #2 defenders, and Nikitin and Tyutin on the 2nd pair is really close to as good as it gets for a 2nd pairing. They can move, they can hit, they can shoot, they can pass, and most importantly they can play defense. The only problems right now are Wiz and Lebda.

Agree, it was bad, not sure how it will be next season.. Wiz might be banged up but with him and Jack I'm not sure at times if they are forwards or defenseman. Not only that, our offense has taken a time machine back to 2010-11... What a mess...

That doesn't make the D bad though, that makes the coaches bad. It's funny because when we traded for JJ what did we all say on these boards, we all said JJ and Wiz aren't going to be a good pair. And would yah looky there, like most things, we are usually right, and what's that, o yeah, big surprise, our coaches continue to prove they are not capable of being at the NHL level. I really just don't see how an NHL coach can think putting two offensive minded guys together and think it is going to work especially when Wiz is clearly not that good at all in the D zone. It's ridiculous to think that we as fans can see these things better than a freaking NHL interim head coach can.
No blueline will be good when you've got Mason and Sanford as your #1's. Sanford would have been great as a fill in, but he's pretty much been a #1 and he's just not a #1 goalie. I'd like to have him as a backup, but not as #1

I can buy that, I'm starting to wonder about Tyutin though, not saying he's bad or anything..
I'm sure that not even his harshest critics here are surprised that Nash would be among the first to support this effort, his character and decency have never been questioned.
Not sure if it's meaningful. For the past few days, CBJ Dispatch stories that would normally be filed by Aaron Portzline have come from Bill Rabinowitz. Rabinowitz is a long time general sports reporter who has handled odds and ends and filled in at the Dispatch when staffers have moved on.
