My league's draft is in about a month. I play in a 5x5 Rotisserie Auction Style Draft personally. I figured this thread would be for general question, rants, musings, and comments.
Over the last couple of days, I've thrown together my goal team. Here it goes.
C Yadier Molina for 5
1B Freddie Freeman for 10
2B Ian Kinsler for 25
3B David Freese for 8
SS Elvis Andrus for 13
MI Jhonny Peralta for 5
CI Michael Young for 15
OF Jacoby Ellsbury for 30
OF Jayson Werth for 10
OF Michael Morse for 10
OF Michael Bourn for 8
U Chris Young for 5
U Jason Heyward for 3
P Roy Halladay for 30
P Chris Carpenter for 15
P Doug Fister for 10
P Brandon Morrow for 8
P Zack Greinke for 15
P Brandon Beachy for 5
P Matt Moore for 1 (Plan on keeping him for the next two years, as well)
P Josh Johnson for 15
P Madison Bumgarner for 7
P Francisco Liriano for 2
It's that time of year again! I'm still licking my wounds over how my AL Only season ended. I finished in 2nd place by a half point. An extra save (I missed out on one because I didn't realize Kyle Farnsworth had come off the DL ~10 days before the end of the season), an extra steal, or an extra win would have given me that half point.
On the final day of the season, Phil Humber threw a gem and I was poised to get that win. But then Chris Sale blew it in the 9th.....and I now forever hate Chris Sale ($140 diff between 1st and 2nd place).
Nevermind the borderline collusion trade between a husband/wife combo in our league. The husband sent Paul Konerko, Michael Young, and Alexei Ramirez to his wife for Alex Gordon, Casey Kotchman, and Tyler Flowers. Gordon had value as a keeper for this year, but that was a pretty hefty price for on keeper.

I should be set up pretty well going into this season in terms of keepers. Long story short, we can keep guys at +$7 from what we paid for them in 2011. Here's my list of potentials:
[9 teams | 2 C | 1B | 2B | SS | 3B | CI | MI | 5 OF | DH | 5 SP | 3 RP | 1 P | 7 BN]
C: Carlos Santana ($15) - .239 average hurt, but 30 homer potential is worth the $15. Plus it's a two catcher league, so this is a huge bonus category.
TBD: Mark Trumbo ($8) - Got unexpected value out of him for $1 last season. Rumblings of him moving to 3B? 3B was fairly shallow in the AL last year. But not sure he'll get enough ABs and I'm kinda skeptical of him repeating.
1B: Eric Hosmer ($13) - Comparable CI would go for the high teens, so this seems like a logical keep.
OF: Matt Joyce ($8) - Tremendous for $1 last year but his BABIP was high and eventually caught up to him. $8 for 20 HR / 10 SB is solid value though.
OF: Desmond Jennings ($8) - Had to wait forever last season, but he was a huge boost when he finally got called up.
OF: Mike Trout ($13) - Probably won't keep him at that price, but I still can't seem to completely dismiss it.
RP: Jordan Walden ($8) - Cheap for a closer.
RP: Kyle Farnsworth ($12) - Also cheap, but also have to worry about him being traded (in our league, if the guy gets dealt to the NL, you have to drop him).
We can keep two people coming out of the draft and then one more at the end of the year. I had drafted Jesus Montero and Mike Minor as keepers, but I traded them for Michael Morse and someone else and then I kept Jurrjens as my end of the year reneg, and I traded him for someone as well, so I'm going into the draft with a clean sheet.

Leaves me with $5 in wiggle room
This is a keeper? Huge steals for Moore and Heyward. Bumgarner for 7 is awesome too.

I'd definitely keep Jennings, Santana, Walden, and Hosmer. Some others I'm on the fence on. I don't think I'd keep Trumbo, but I'd roll the dice on Joyce.

This is my targets. I figure I underestimated on pitching and overestimated on hitting and I'll balance it eventually. I'm hoping that Moore lasts until the later rounds of the draft where I won't be able to be bid up. I don't know. The machinations of the draft are always interesting. Heyward had such a bad year last year that I think most people will sour on him.
Just wondering some of your thoughts on what you guys think are underrated players. Holland, Heyward, Lind and Crawford are players that I think will exceed expectations.

Agreed. I love McCann in the 5th round and I draft Cs, 2Bs, and SSs first, but Wainright is arguably as good as any NL starter. Some people don't understand the way I draft, but when 1/3 of your starting lineup is Yunel Escobar, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and Danny Espinosa you've got problems. I've never missed the playoffs since I switched to this system. It also prevents getting weak hitters like that if you pre-rank and then auto-draft.
Canucksfan, I like Montero, a lot. He's a good power hitter, and he has something to prove this year being a contract year. Dbacks and him have held off talks until the end of the season, so if he has a strong year he can look for more money.

Agreed. I think he will do very well. He was the only catcher I wanted and I got him for $10.
For those interested. I did a draft with my friends and all of us are Jays fans. I thought Lawrie would go for around $30. Two idiots were bidding for him. He went for $48!! Miguel Caberra went for $49.

3 Picks in the draft.
Lots of stats included in this H2H points league. One thing's for sure, I've got alot of work to do with that pitching staff. Yikes. Beastly infield though.
