Wonder if they will restock the Blueline with Prospal shirtzees. He bought the entire stock himself a few weeks ago. Always wondered about the reason behind that peculiar move.

Anyway, I LOVE that he re-signed. VP is the man. (I mean that literally... the only man on a team of wonderful but YOUNG boys.)

I know this is the most tangible post in decades!

Nice job...

If we could get into their sub consciences, we could find out about the unknown knowns.

Ugh, I hope not. Of course, if they're keeping P&H around, why not keep the team? If P&H are there, nothing else really matters, even though I like the Prospal signing.

With a presumably elite player coming in this next draft and a very promising player in Johansen, it is absolutely critical to get the culture changed and to get player development people in who know what they are doing. This team HAS to get these players developed and contributing. I am so sick and tired of watching promising players become busts...

I already threw this against the wall of the player movement thread and it didn't stick, but I'll bring it up once again- some talk about cap hit amnesty with the next CBA. Don't know about the reliability of that, at this point seems more like rumor (so I shouldn't be bringing it up), but perhaps Mason can be amnestied...

I agree with this completely. I think it was Wisniewski who gave an interview like a month ago that said the injuries and (holy $%^*, you suck Mason) goaltending that doomed them at the beginning of the season and it all just sort of snowballed from there.

Going into next season(barring MAJOR changes) all I think we DESPERATELY need is a new starting goalie(on board with resigning Sanford as back-up). We have a lot of money coming off the books and I thing you plug a few holes(goalie, #1 D-man) with that money and give the kids a shot at the other remaining slots. Couple that with a highly ranked rookie that will hopefully(Dear God, I don't ask for much, really I don't) have a Crosby/Ovechkin effect on this team, we could seriously kick some names and take some butt.

Now in terms of who's leading this team as GM and coach will alos have a positive or negative effect,

It'll be a while, I'm still cataloging all the highlights, and haven't even finalized the song.

But every time I had a goal by Prospal I'd log and catalog it, and then wonder if I'd ever be able to use it. Just glad I will be able to, there's some great stuff in there.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Were I in Howson's position, I would still have given a NTC but I would have him replace Richards at the end of the season, thus giving Prospal the head coach position during that one season (if the current/next CBAs permitted to put a player on roster as a head coach anyway).

I was sort of kidding but has it actually happened in the modern era?

Didn't Mario do the player/coach thing at Pittsburgh at one point?

No. Oh it was widely believed he was making "coaching decisions" and maybe even "GM decisions" but he never held the title of coach.

Sorry to resurrrect this three week old thread, but I'm thinking that PROSPAL may just be one of the BEST SIGNINGS this team has ever made. On the puck, and around it, you just have to appreciate his consistent play and veteran clubhouse presence.

Mostly, I like his attitude. And while he has a different game, I think Vinny stands to become this team's most-beloved player & best mascot since Vybo (and Boomer).

Give me guys like him anyday.

Oddly enough, I was thinking the same thing yesterday. He was reminding me of the old #9, but with more of that overall leadership vibe.

Since it's resurrected...

Anyone wonder if the "reshape" was told to Vinny prior to him signing his extension? I just wonder if he was aware of the direction prior to signing and if not, how he feels about it now.

If Nash is being honest and he didn't tell him teammates anything the news came out in mid January that he was on the block as I recall. Dont' remember when he signed his new deal but....

I was extremely pumped when I heard of the extension. I believe they were as straightforward with Vinny as they possibly could be at that time. Not sure on the timing of the extension either but no one really knows exactly when this whole Nash saga began either.
