Going to be pretty weird for Prince next year, potentially can be playing in his OHL team arena for his career

I'm pretty sure he'll be playing in the AHL next year no? They had there 1 playoff round at SBP last year.

That's pretty cool! I gotta say as someone who has never really been able to get into the 67's as there's just not enough time, probably been to 10 in my life....but hey this is definitely more incentive to go check out games. Love going to SBP for any event really.

But yes, it's going to look really empty, I'd imagine they would try to focus mostly on the lower bowl and not have the camera pan over the 200's/300's very much.

And the logo at centre ice would be interesting. They'll figure it out.

Pumped to see a lot of Prince!

It happened almost every game I went to haha. They like have a special crew that cleans up the crap that falls from the ceiling

I vividly remember a game where a piece of ceiling fell on the ice, and the refs didn't blow the whistle and a 67 (I forget who) scored the game winner.

anyone know what the lower bowl capacity is at SBP? I assume they'll limit it to that.
They could but I wouldn't do that. First row in the 3rd deck is an awesome seat. They don't need to limit the third level. They could just only sell tickets in the 1st rows of the third level unless all the tickeI in the first few levels are sold. Realistically they won't sell more than 6-10,000 seats but you never know for some games... If a top prospect is coming or a top Sens pick. If Tavares had been coming to town or Spezza after he got drafted they might sell out SBP.

I personally hate the civic centre.. the roof grosses me out... everything just sucks. SBP is much better IMO. It will be nice for the 67's to have their own arena that is not jury rigged and odd shaped.

I'm sorry, attendance is going to take a pretty major hit if you asked me.

The reason the 67s are so successful is because a person living downtown can walk/bus/drive reasonable limits to go to a game and walk out with $30 gone, as oppposed to $150 at Senators games.

Atmosphere? 67's?

Good lord, that place is a library compared to the Madhouse on Madison Carillon.

I hated the corners at the civic center...way to sharp. It's so weird taking the puck out of that corner. Hopefully the new rink will be more "nhl sized" with wider corners. Anyone else notice this?

You and your inferior franchise can leave.

The 67's have double the national championships as you.

Damn you Bathurst. Actually, damn you blind linesman who allowed Bathurst to score the winning goal even though it was offside...

1999 came so close to seeing an NCR battle for supremacy.

It's actually pretty amazing how successful both teams have been over the years, and how both team has had a very good fanbase (good in different ways).

I can't believe the amazing Gatineau/Hull Olympiques franchise was once called the Hull Festivals. What a horrid name.

I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. That said, unless they have an absolute stellar team (like this year), I foresee attendance taking a slight hit and the overall in-game atmosphere dropping. I'm sure the future gains will be worth it...hopefully.

Attendance is a probable; atmosphere is a given.

There is no way that a crowd of 8 000 will have an impact on the game when that's less than 50% capacity.

At the Civic Centre, however, those 8 000 reasonably sober Ontarian's make much more noise.

And an even more horrid logo -

Get it? It's a tent, and a guy with a thing that looks like a cross between an axe and a hockey stick!

The team was named after the Hull Raftsman Festival.

Not as much as 4000 reasonably inebriated Québécois! (And us, i.e. reasonably inebriated Ontarians ).

That's what I was getting at (the 8 000 vs 4 000 thing ).

Noise is always going to go to Les Olympiques.

I think this will have some long-term gains for the 67's.

2 years at SBP will expose OHL hockey to all of the West Ottawa potential spectators who might not have gone downtown to see games or didn't think it would be "worth it" to fight the downtown traffic to see games.

If they are a playoff team, and ticket prices are still cheap....we could potentially see a 67's sell out at the bank imo.

I doubt it, but that's just me.

Maybe if we're battling for the Robertson, but all you have to do is look at the Sudbury game at SBP last year, and to me you get a pretty good idea of what you'd get, give or take a few thousand.
