I just figured out today I got an important morning at school that day I can get it done in advance so im considering doing that or just going for the first bit of the day and staying home the rest. Can anyone remind me of the hours where the trades really start happening?

Also last year I used it also as just a day to relax and get some extra sleep cause right in the middle of the school year you sometimes need a break.

In all seriousness, there may be 2 or 3 before noon, but things don't usually pick up until after noon. There seems to be a small amount of sellers because of the parity in the league so it could be a slow one.

They'll spend 4 hours guessing the 2014 Olympic Hockey teams.

Unfortunately this year I have an essay due on the 28th and an exam on the 28th, so I may have to multi-task studying and focusing on trade centre. Going to class is still not an option. It's a national holiday for me.
Wait you drank more beer in high school then in university?

Last year they all put PK Subban on their Olympic team. I wonder if they'll do that again. I've taken the last few years off, but, been mostly disappointed so maybe this year I'll do some work. The nice part of living on the West Coast is, it's over by noon.

Trade deadline use to be my favourite but it's getting less exciting each year IMO. For hockey days id rank em:

1)Draft
2)July 1st
3)Trade deadline

Already booked the day off work. Have always stayed home from school for a few years now. I am pretty much just glued to the T.V and my laptop all day.

1) Book day off work months in advance. If I'm working out of home (as now), then skip this step.

2) The day prior, purchase a 12-pack of Heineken tall cans. I also load up on some of the chronic if I can.

3) Also on the day prior, go to the gym so I don't have to on TD Day.

4) Get to sleep reasonably early (12:30 is reasonably early for me).

5) Wake up around 9:30. Have a morning cigarette and a cup of coffee.

6) Around 10:15, Shower and get dressed. Crack my first beer.

7) Plant my ass in front of my TV around 10:30 with my laptop. Ignore all subsequent calls until it's all over. Continue pounding beers until I have a decent buzz by 12:15, also hitting B's throughout.

8) Order a Pizza, usually from Domino's, sometimes Topper's. I have my delivery guy at either place on lock; last month I was watching some Ahnold flick on AMC and I told my Domino's guy to walk right in with it and he ended up hanging out for about twenty minutes and downing a beer. I do not know if he's big into hockey, but I imagine he'll chill for a bit, down a beer, maybe hit a pile.

9) Eat the Pizza, continue to drink and blaze.

10) The deadline ends at 3 but as we know, deals trickle in until about 4. Once everything is finalized, take a nap until 6.

11) ...alcoholismProfit?

Since 2008, I've considered it a day of mourning. So much disappointment. I have yet to get over it.

As soon as the date for the next seasons Trade Deadline is determined I book off 2 weeks of holidays so that the actual Deadline Date is right in the middle. Then I get a bunch of blow, booze and puff, line up some ladies and commence to partying it up like it deserves. After this I plead the 5th.

Good times.

Haha, well last year I pressed Apple+R (F5) about 6,000 times on twitter.

TSN on the main TV w/ sound, will have sportsnet on the projector this year, perhaps might mix in TSN radio this year.

Went to a buddies at about 10am, was beyond hammered by like 2:30. We chugged the drink every trade - ended up taking too long as there wasn't many trades.

This year I might set up a custom ringtone for twitter (like a goal horn hooked up to surround sound) and set mobile alerts for dregs, bobby m, and kyper so we get all excited when they tweet a trade, haha

A recap of post 3pm: I ate 18 junior chickens (no joke, haha. Woke up with extra's in my pockets too), Took a nap on a table at boston pizza, tried to navigate 5pm sidewalks hammered at yonge & eg, and then somehow managed to have a skype session with my mom in florida and brother in australia.

I think I'll tone 'er down this year a bit on the booze, but nerd it up on the electronics

This is the fear every year, but I still think we'll see minor moves. I'm the first to admit the blockbusters aren't quite as frequent as they have been, but the day still holds some intrigue despite the talk of high prices and low supply (most basic economic rule).

I liken it to my recent struggles in moving.

I am moving in with my girlfriend as we speak - since we both have places, and I'm moving into hers, we both have furniture, so I agreed to sell my stuff since... well... hers is nicer. So I have a sectional sofa that isn't even 6 months old, paid 1200$ for it, has to be sold. I posted it up for 800$ firm, and wouldn't budge on the price.

No one was willing to pay.

So the day kept creeping up on me, where I realized "I have nowhere to store this thing. If I don't sell it, it will end up on a curb. I have to sell it."

This was the point I realized I had no leverage. Sold it for 500$ within a week.

Point being? Prices will stay high, but as they day comes closer, the sellers will realize they have to garner a return for their assets.

I'm not going to do much this year... probably just read twitter, where most breaking news happen - even before TV.

Burger joint is right at Bloor and Runnymere, called The Yellow Griffin pub. Place is dynamite - a bit pricey, about 13$ for a burger, but they're made fresh and the combinations are wild. Highly recommended! You'll become hooked once you're there.

As far as a splash goes, the only 3 names I'm thinking are possible and kind hoping for are (in this order) 1) Jeff Carter (I know, but I think he's just what this team needs), 2) Tuomo Ruutu, 3) JVR.

Burke may not make big deals at the deadline, but I did some research last night and he makes a few deals every trade deadline, they're just for depth. He'll have to move a defenceman, likely for a pick or something along those lines.
