The most EFFECTIVE hitter to gain puck control and most consistant finisher on the team is Callahan then Prust then Dubi

Don't leave Hagelin out of this conversation, either.

Lets all turn a blind eye to those ills that ail us cause after all, we're in first place.

Lets's not address the PP, cause we're in first place.

Lets not address the lack of a secondary legit sniper on one of the top 2 lines cause we're in first place.

Before you know it, these issues will be our undoing because while we have been basking ni the fact that we in first place, other teams are steadily gaining ground (Philly, Pitt and the Devils are all within 6 points of us)

Afterall, we're in first place, we shouldn't have worry about playing a player devoid of offence as the third line pivot.

No one is saying that. But one needs to have realistic expectations of a 3rd line player. Not one Detroit fan complained about the Grind line being their 3rdl line. and I certainly did not see McCarty or Maltby as being good offensive players.

also consider that the statisticians at the Garden are very generous with hits (for the Rangers) and blocked shots. Boyle tries to get involved physically but he doesn't take the puck from other players. And if he had better skills he's have the puck some of the time and wouldn't always be in a position to take hit and take it away. He's a 4th liner and an ok one at that.

Maltby and Draper were on their 4th line. And don't even think of comparing Brian Boyle to Kris Draper.

No comparing the two. But there was lots of 3rdline time and going up against other teams top lines.

i think we all just witnessed boyle's best game of the season. now hopefully he can get it going consistantly that would really be a huge boost.

Like that line. You know when they're out there they are going to out hit the other team and get a good forecheck going.

exactly, that looked like the 2010-11 version of that line which is more of what we need. fast, hard hitting and aggressive forechecking, they are great at also causing turnovers which creates great chances. we deff need more of this for the long haul.

I like Boyle. Always see him as a strength, even when we are facepalming because of what could have happened on a particular play. Big Irishman from a big family of Irish descent (Boyle is an Irish name, I know that much). I just plain like the guy, same as I like Brad Richards. When I think of Rangers like these guys (and others) they are like my friends and I feel for them when things aren't going well, and I rejoice for them when things go greeeeaaat!!

And then there is Wolski...

lol, he must have read this thread. Anyway, let's not get ahead of ourselves here. He maybe scores one goal tonight and then goes another 15 games without a goal...

Nice goal tonight. Clutch. I'll eat crow tonight. But this isn't going to be a breakout game for him, he is what he is.
