I know Roy's a good passer, and I wanted to get rid of Jokinen, so I made a package to trade for Roy.
He has been tearing it up with Iggy and Tanguay on his wings!!
And, Jokinen is Buf's leading scorer atm. So, it seems to be a decent deal for both teams.
After being fired by the Philadelphia Flyers for not reaching expectations (8 years, 2 Stanley Cup Appearances, 0 Stanley Cup Wins), the Calgary Flames have hired Gow on a 2-year deal in order to rebuild this once proud franchise. After finishing in the bottom 5 in the NHL for the past 6 years, Gow has come in with a mandate to turn the page and turn the Calgary Flames around.

Yeah, I managed to get playoffspot! I was 8th in the East with same points (87 pts) as Islanders but I got 39 wins, they 37. Damn, that was a race!! Will write season review tomorrow, 'cause it's late here. I have amazing team, amazing players. What a fight it was.
In the first round I play against 1st seed Tampa Bay. I have only something to win, will start to fight against far better team.
1st line, Evander Kane(85)-J.Sherman(99)(1st time create-a-player, kinda ruins the fun hes to good.)-Ales Hemsky(88)
2nd Line, Taylor Hall(84)-Ryan-Nuggent-Hopkins(85)-Jordan Eberle(83)

D2 - Ladislav Smid(83)-Cam Barker(85)
D3 - V. Voynov(77)-Thomas Hickey(77)
Goalies: Jonathon Bernier(84), Brian Boucher(81), Ray Emery(81)
Colton Teubert is (77), He will def be on the 3rd line D next year replacing either Hickey or Voynov, depends on who is better this season..
This is my 2nd season, eliminated conference finals against the Canucks.
My next early pick is 2017 or 18 2nd round.
I would trade Evgeny Nabokov and his Trade Interest is really high..
Every team I traded him to sent him down, and I claimed him. Re-traded him and this happened like 4 times.. That's why my roster is so stacked with young players..
I really doubt if this is gonna work because all the young players contracts are up and they're going to wanna get paid.. I have like 12 mil in cap space and since Sherman is 99 he is gonna want a HUGE contract, I might trade him because he only has a minor league contract right now..
They're is no chance I keep him and my whole roster, if he goes I can at least keep the 1st three lines..
sorry for the length, just really needed to share my roster..
Is there a way to acquire veteran players (Hossa) from teams?
I've tried every trade option available and it seems they just won't part with the guy.
After my first season Chicago offered me Hossa for Trevor Daley and Tomas Vincour. Daley had just won the Norris so they might have boosted his trade value. I'm not sure if the game is that smart but if that did boost his value then that's really cool.
Couple of in game years have since passed since I last updated my version of the New York Rangers
2026-2027 New York Rangers
Alex Carnevale (92) - Tyler Seguin (96) - Danny Smits (88)
Oldrich Novak (87) - Lukas Balmelli (89) - Patrick Kane (85)
Daryl Gormley (81) - Jayden Lannon (84) - Dustin Giordano (84)
Taylor Leier (84) - Sidney Crosby (87) - Johnny McGuire (83)
Extra: Jonas Konopka (78)
Dmitry Kulikov (93) - Adam Larsson (99)
Lawrence Sweeney (86) - Ludvig Bystrom (88)
Nick Ebbett (84) - Ronnie Orr (84)
Extra: Francois Godin (83)
Mikael Edelmann (84)
Howard McCauley (87)
Of course, when it gets to be this point in the Be a GM, almost everyone is made up...so you can tell in my team who's legit and who is fictional.
Larsson is outstanding as usual, Norris Trophy winner just about every year
Seguin is an annual 100 point scorer, an annual Selke winner, and has won at least two Hart/Ted Lindsay trophies
Alex Carnevale to me is one of the best pickups I've ever had in the game. I don't think there has ever been a season where he hasn't had less than 30+ goals. He's a constant 80+ point player already. Already had a 60 goal season under his belt too. He was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in my dynasty in the 2013 draft/23rd overall.
And then there's the story about my goalie "controversy." I decided after many years with the organization, it was time to let Jonathan Bernier walk. After an amazing 49 win season, the team was swept in the first round of playoffs. Knowing my backup McCauley was being developed into a good goaltender, I knew it was time to let the 38 year old Bernier go.
I decided to run a tandem of Howard McCauley and Mikael Edelmann. Edelmann has since taken over the starting job posting 25 wins, 9 losses, 1.85 GAA, .926 SV%, and 5 shutouts.
I ended season with 39-34-9 record, that gave me 87 points, which was enough for 8th spot in Eastern Conference. Starting playoff-battle against Tampa Bay.
My line-up and players' stats:
Forwards:
Zach Parise (82gp, 32g+47a=79pts, +/- 16) - Jeff Halpern (73, 8+15=23, -1) - Gabriel Landeskog (80, 14+22=36, +11)
This was posted in the last thread but im just showing it as a recap. Year 1 with CGY is in there too if your interested to see how i blew up the team at first.

Have you guys made any really realistic trades in NHL? I mean, It is really easy to make stupidly lopsided trades in the game but I try to stay realistic....
One trade I made as sabres gm the first year was:
Derek Roy
Jordan Leopold
Buf 2012 2nd
for:
Chicago:
Michael Frolik
Bryan Bickell
Mark Mcniel
1st in 2012
Seemed fair to me, and was actually discussed a lot on these hfboards. What do you guys do?

After seeing their longest-tenured player and long time fan favorite Jay Bow...(sp) traded at the deadline with a 2nd round pick in 2020 and a 2nd round pick in 2021 to Minnesota for expiring contract and old-timer Joffrey Lupul, a 1st round pick in 2020, and a 1st round pick in 2021, the Flames finished the season 32-41-9, good for last in the West and 3rd to last in the NHL.
However, not everything is bleak. The Abbotsford Heat were able to win the Calder Cup, and there are many young promising players down on the farm.

First round over and I won Tampa! 4-2 wins. Three games went to the overtime. 6th game's first overtime was played like 15 mins and then Cam Janssen took me to the second round. Great feeling. Will face Sabres in the second round.
I know that this team may not be cup-ready, but I have at least realized that I need to acquire 1st line center this summer. Halpern may not be the best 1st center in the league.
I have been thinking that I go hard after Marc Savard. Savard is just that type of center what I want. Savard-Stoll would be great center-pair. Stoll is just amazing. Now 6gp, 4+3=7pts, +8.. in first round. He and Kovalchuk-Nickulas combine great great line. If I won't get player like Ruutu from free agent in summer, I will re-sign Nickulas.
So I will re-sign or at least try to: Parise, Stoll, Helm, Janssen, Blake, Halpern, Foster, Corrente Stuart, Fayne, Schneider and Hedberg. I will let Ryan Carter and Steve Bernier walk. From free agent I will try to sign Ruutu or another right winger.
But those are summer's things to think, now let's focus on second round!
So, I've been up until now doing the approach of put assistant coach on the lines, and simming the whole season, but that's not exactly as fun.
I'm gonna start going game by game, and start putting more effort into doing the lines myself based on statistics and such, but I need some help. For forwards, it's pretty simple, but is there really a good way to base how a defenseman is performing recently (points, and +/- is all that can come to mind at the moment, but don't know if there's a better stat), and how to know who should be put on the powerplays/penalty kills?
Also, just wondering, if you have say an 89 overall goalie who's putting up like .905 and a 81 overall goalie who's putting up like .915-.920, would it be smarter to put the lower overall one as the starter for a while?
I'm thinking of starting a Be A GM mode, but can't decide on a team. Most people choose teams to rebuild, so I may choose a team tight against the cap with Stanley Cup aspirations, like the LA Kings.
I'm thinking of starting a Be A GM mode, but can't decide on a team. Most people choose teams to rebuild, so I may choose a team tight against the cap with Stanley Cup aspirations, like the LA Kings.
Kings sound interesting, haven't seen many do a kings GM Mode here.
So i'm on the beginning of the 2013-2014 season with my Quebec City Warriors. And my team is looking better than two seasons ago, when it still was filled with Bad Euro Players.
I took some risks in the Off-Season, but i managed to put together a pretty good team, although i lost my 2014 1st and 3rd Round picks when i signed RFA Goalie Michal Neuvirth to a 6-year, $30M contract. ($5M cap hit) But that i made that signing because my team was in need of a elite goaltender. Before Neuvirth the best goalie i had was Emery who is 82ovr and Neuvirth is 88ovr. I also signed UFA Mark Streit to a 1-year deal.
And i made a pretty good trade in the Entry Draft that sent my RW Niclas Bergfors (83) and a 2014 2nd Rounder to LAK for RW Dustin Brown (87).
I am going to though have a problem at the 2014 Entry Draft, as i have no picks in first 3 rounds.
But here is my line-up!:
Alexander Radulov "C" (86) - Jarkko Immonen (82) - Dustin Brown (87)
Evgeny Kuznetsov (81) - Brandon Sutter (84) - Radim Vrbata "A" (83)
Patrick O'Sullivan (81) - Steve Bernier (82) - Rob Schremp (82)
Marek Bartanus (78) - Colin Long (75) - Evgeny Artyukhin
Oliver Ekman-Larsson "A" (84) - Mark Streit (87)
David Rundblad (80) - Johnny Oduya (83)
Ryan Murray (76) - Yann Sauve (77)
Michael Neuvirth (88)
Ray Emery (82)
My Top Prospects:
Skaters:
D Brandon Gormley - TWD 75, A-, B, B (AHL)
D Danick Emond - DFD 72, B-, A-, B (FA Pickup) (AHL)
LW Todd Fiddler - TWF 70, A-, B-, B- (FA Pickup) (AHL)
Goalies:
G Richard Ullberg - BUT, 77, B-, B, B- (AHL)
G Malcolm Subban - HYB, 73, B, B-, B (CHL)
Hey guys, going to start my Pens bagm where I deal Sid.
RAY SHERO FIRED, MALONE HIRED, CROSBY TO BE DEALT?
Now former Penguins GM Ray Shero (left) has been fired and replaced with Max Malone. Also, Sidney Crosby (right) could be on his way out of Pennsylvania.
PITTSBURGH, PENN. - It's been a big day for the Pittsburgh Penguins in terms of movement.
The team announced that Ray Shero has been fired as GM of the team, and that his replacement will be Max Malone. Who? Malone has been doing work with the Ottawa 67's of the OHL.
However, that wasn't the biggest news of the day.
Multiple news outlets, including TSN and Sportsnet, are reporting that Pens superstar forward Sidney Crosby is on the trading block and will most likely be dealt at the second Entry Draft on Friday.
Following the press conference, Malone was not available for comment, but was seen talking on his IPhone, reportedly to a rival GM.
Should Crosby be dealt, he would warrant a massive return. So, Pens fans will obviously be raging should Crosby be dealt, but the package they receive could be pretty significant.
For now, we wait to see if the star will be moved.
Going into the 2020 season, the owner's expectations have only gone up by 3 wins to 35, but GM Gow see's something different.
"I don't see why we can't compete for a playoff spot. We have the best young goalie in the game in Lilja, have the best young power forward in Robinson, a great great all-around blue liner in Austin, and tons of depth with Auger, Howse, Gamelin, and Bigras."
