Id personally like to see them go vintage...Brown pant shells the old style brown leather glove look with the blue and white would be a beautiful sight
The only reason I like the 70's jersey is it was what they wore when I started watching hockey, but I would be pissed if they wore them for the winter classic.
The winter classic is a celebration of the games origins. Sure the flyers and penguins used their 70's jerseys but, that is as far back as a they go (unless they went with their very early teams, which few people know about) For the leafs, using the single most depressing era's jersey makes absolutely no sense. The only reason to ever wear those is if a player from that era is being honoured.
I absolutely Love the 1927 sweater...in fact I have one in a goalie cut and wear it often for ball hockey, but it probably won't be used for the WC because we will almost certainly be in white.
I would bet it is either:
1930's white
or 1940's white
or this 1967 white
My bet is the '67 white, (but my preference is the 30's white) or they do a new design that has a vintage look with some version of one of the older logos.
"The 1936 Stanley Cup Final NHL championship series was contested by the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs. This was Detroit's second appearance in the Final and Toronto's sixth. Detroit would win the series 3–1 to win their first Stanley Cup."
First time meeting in the Stanley Cup finals, why not rock the same jerseys?
Those make the Leafs look like Norris Division punching bags. When the Leafs ditched those in 1992 when Gillmour and Burns were taking the reigns, that signaled an end to the Dark Ages...
People need to get their heads out of their ***** because of the Ballard days. "Darkest days in our history" yah because those days are worse than missing the playoffs 6 straight seasons right? We didn't miss more than that the whole time he was part of the team. The time he was full owner of the Leafs we missed the playoffs 5 times. Sure he was pretty bad , treated most players like crap but at least we were consistent in making playoffs. People make it look worse than what it was in regards to results.
This is our darkest days, 6 STRAIGHT years no playoffs, 3 of them dead last in our division and one dead last in our conference . I'm no "fan" of Harold Ballard but people need to stop exaggerating our results during his era.

You really don't have any idea what the Ballard Era around here really means.. do you?
Bettman kept referencing the first meeting between Toronto and Detroit hockey teams back in 1927.. I'd assume they would both use the jerseys from that game for this.
Change the pants and gloves to blue, and maybe the use of an off-white and I'm all in.
I tried that at first, but quite frankly, I think vintage white has been overused, and the blue pants and gloves make it a bit too blue. It's looks alright, but I think as long as the tan is done properly (unlike when they used a dark brown with the St. Pats jerseys), it looks very sharp:

Except that the Leafs will be the visiting team, so they need white jerseys, which nixes that plan. I guess a reverse version is a possibility, but it might be too plain. They might also shy away from the unfamiliar "Arenas" branding with the game happening in the States.
Here's roughly what I'd like to see: A white version of the 30-34 dark jersey (with the waist stripes lowed a bit) and the 63 logo.
Quick 2 min. edit:
And a mock up for the Star's design the Leafs' WC jersey thing:
Put the 1927 logo on and I'd be all over it.

I think for old time sake the Leafs should wear their blues, and the wings wear their reds. No white jerseys.

The only reason the Leafs had a white jersey in the early days, was for when playing the Rangers (who only had the blue jersey until 1951). I'd definitely prefer a blue sweater myself.
