Carter is a great #1 option, it's just his 10 year contract that scares most GM (IMO). They can make even the best of players become long term burdens.

If Sather can trade Gomez, Carter doesn't worry me.

My problem with Carter is that he has been run out of town by the Flyers because of his off ice attitude with all the party, imagine that in Montreal...

I'm as worried that he has a history of relying on playmaking wingers and has a reputation for partying a bit too hard as I am about his contract.

Btw, why is White a scratch on NHL.com ? http://www.nhl.com/ice/boxscore.htm?id=2011020802 was he called up?
Welcome CrackTheSkye! Sorry for the late reply.

White is still in Hamilton on a conditioning assignment. Reports on nhl.com are not always 100% accurate

This happened to Carter at age 26, not 22.

Price was 21-22 when that was the case Carter is 27 and some are saying that it's still going in Columbus I should think that because of that he should'nt be the number one choice.

He's definitely not a major upgrade over Plekanec, if any upgrade at all.

Besides, I rather keep our young assets, our home-grown talent and down to earth guy instead of this locker room contract with an albatross contract.

As for the game, I simply love how Patches has developed. Timmins did an amazing job in 2007, wish we still had Mcdonagh on the back end though...

Let me tell you, if you need a playmaking winger for Carter, just sign Hemsky.

Carter-Hemsky

and between those two, you just might get a full 82 games played.

I recall hearing how Homlgren was extremely pissed at how they got swept by the Bruins in the 2nd round last year. The Bruins basically rolled over them, and Holmgren was furious with how he and Richards handled that series... fwiw.

They also took the team to the SCF the year before. I can understand Holmgren's frustration, but these two are proven winners, and they have the talent that it takes to go far. It's just a matter of a GM/Coach tandem that can set them straight.

Carter is a winger disguised as a centre. He's a much better shooter than playmaker.

He wasn't very productive with Rick Nash and Vinny Prospal. If he can't be productive with Nash, that's a big problem. He's not physical and his attitude is questionable.

I question whether those who are so gung ho on Carter ever watch him play. He's nothing special.
